Lose yourselves in the mountain views when you stay at this sizeable holiday retreat on a working farm in the Lake District. Situated near Bigert Mire, 5 miles from Broughton-in-Furness, it nestles in an idyllic, rural setting for an extended family or four couples who enjoy spending time in the great outdoors. Head out on foot from here to explore the picturesque Duddon Valley; visit lakes and climb fells in this south-western swathe of the national park and even head to the coast for bracing walks and trips to Cumbrian beauty spots. Sleeping eight guests, the four-bedroom property includes gardens where children and pets can play and has a covered BBQ area where you can dine out in the fresh air and while away long summer evenings.

Tear yourselves away from the astounding views to climb six steps and enter this single-storey Lakeland retreat. Settle together in the spacious lounge/diner, which has a vaulted ceiling and bank of windows that pull the views right into the room. Fire up the wood burner in here on autumn and winter evenings and find a good film to enjoy together on the Smart TV. The dining area is a great place to gather for lively holiday meals. Find everything you need to help you prepare tasty dishes with your own ingredients in the kitchen and discover you also have a handy utility room, with WC. When the night begins to fall, bid your friends or relatives goodnight, and wander down the hall to where the bedroom and bathroom accommodation is located. Here there are two super-king-size rooms, one with an en-suite shower room and both with zip-and-link beds that can be arranged as twins if discussed at booking. There are also two doubles and a family bathroom here. Also in this part of the property, up one small step, is a conservatory where you can relax over a cup of coffee in the morning and watch the mist rise off the mountains. Spill out into the garden as much as possible as well to enjoy your surroundings. Sizzle supper for your party on the BBQ on summer evenings and find you have access to cycle storage and a garage with a shared washing machine.

Head 6 miles from the house to Foxfield to visit the Duddon Mosses National Nature Reserve or to 5 miles to see the Swinside Stone Circle, said to be one of the most impressive in Britain. Venture 11 miles into the Lake District to spend time at Coniston Water, where you can walk along the shores or take a lake cruise. These boats stop at jetties all along the shore, enabling you to hop on and off as you choose.

The cottage is in a stunning rural location - an ideal choice to get away from the hustle & bustle. If you want amazing views from the sitting room of your cottage, the experience of proper weather and a peacefulness you could only wish for, then this is a place for you. We spent Christmas week at Valley View and had a fabulous time. Had a lovely stay at Valley View, the views were stunning. Great location for exploring the Lake district area. Very cosy cottage despite the wet and blustery conditions outside towards the end of our stay. Would definitely recommend.

We loved our stay, the views are breathtaking and enjoyed from almost every room in the house - no matter the weather. The bedrooms are spacious and comfortable and the toilets and showers clean and modern. We made the most of the picnic tables outside as well as the cosy conservatory. There are beautiful hiking paths leading out from the cottage aRead morend the landlady is very friendly and helpful. Top tip - the nearest grocery store is close to 30 mins away, so pack everything you need! Hide
