Property code: 79112

Situated on the edge of the  ancient royal hunting grounds of the Wychwood forest with history dating back as far as 1204, this sympathetically restored house offers accommodation fit for a king and queen and is perfect for family gatherings and celebrations no matter what the time of year.

Set on a working farm in Oxfordshire, this historic home enjoys an elevated position near Burford (4.5 miles), the southern gateway to the Cotswolds Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Sleeping 12 guests across six bedrooms, you’ll enjoy the most sumptuous surroundings. It’s the ideal place for families who want to mark a special occasion in a relaxed setting. Discover shops, galleries and amenities in Burford or enjoy country walks in the surrounding farmland and tour the honey-hued Cotswold villages; Burton-on-the-Water (13.5 miles) is particularly popular with criss-cross bridges over the River Windrush, and a perfectly scaled model village attraction.

Take a few steps up to the main property entrance, or, if you’ve been hiking with canine companions, head through the side entrance where there’s a handy boot room with a utility and storage area for coats and muddy dog leads. Inside you’ll find spacious interiors with period features decorated in an opulent country style. The ground floor boasts a formal living room with shuttered windows and a feature fireplace where the whole family can gather together after a busy day out. Enjoy morning coffees, play the piano, or read a favourite book in the morning room with seating fit for a princess. Or head to the heart of the home, the magnificent kitchen and dining hall, which inspires the most delicious of family banquets with the help of an electric five-oven Aga and chatty guests by the kitchen island. Choose from six spacious bedrooms over two upper floors including two four-poster beds for the most discerning guests. There’s also a separate staircase from the first floor to the snug, and a TV and games room on the second floor for household championships. Outside, you’ll find mature gardens with beautiful borders and a patio area for al fresco dining. Ample off-road parking is available for guests, and pubs, shops, and restaurants are a short drive away (4.5 miles).

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Please note there is a refundable £250 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

Beautiful historic house with stunning views. The photographs do not do it justice. Immaculately clean and has a great gas bbq with quality tools provided. 12 adults and a dog all had a fantastic weekend.

Fabulous place to stay in with everything you need to make memories. The kitchen with its island and AGA make it very special. As we stayed at Christmas we didnt get a chance to do much exploring outside of the house but I can imagine its a gorgeous place to stay in the warmer months.
