Over its 500-year history this property has been home to several notable figures, including playwright JB Priestley and Sir Francis Drake. It still retains many of its original period features, and makes for an ideal base for exploring Cornwall. The beach and the South West Coast Path, with its glorious clifftop views, are just a ten-minute stroll away, while the village of Tintagel, steeped in legend, is also just a mile away. Many fantastic attractions are just a short drive from the property, including the Blue Reef Aquarium in Newquay and the Launceston Steam Railway.

The accommodation retains much of its original charm and character, featuring slate floors and exposed wooden beams. Sea views can also be enjoyed from many of the rooms in the house. On the ground floor there is a reception room, lounge, dining area, kitchen and utility room. The reception room is a comfortable place to relax, and features a wood burner for added warmth. Inside the lounge, reached via a step down, is a TV/DVD and an original open fireplace. The dining area has plenty of space for a large family. In the kitchen, which is also reached via a step-down, guests can find a range cooker, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. It leads out to a conservatory, which features comfortable seating and wonderful views out to sea. The utility room features a washing machine, a tumble dryer and a separate WC. On the first floor, there are four bedrooms as well as a bathroom and a shower room. The bedrooms consist of two doubles and two twin zip-and-links, which can be made into king-sizes on request. Both twins as well as one double are reached via a step down. The bathroom contains a bath and a WC, while the shower room contains a shower and a WC.

An enclosed garden area can be found outside of the property, which also features a patio, seating area and a BBQ. Here guests can enjoy some excellent views looking out to the coast and the sea. Ample parking is also provided.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

Old Borough House is ideal for an energetic family with teenagers, a granny and a dog. There is a small secluded garden and patio area for eating outside. We enjoyed walking the SW coastal path and climbing down the steep path to swim in the lovely cove. Places to visit include Port Isaac for fresh fish. The property is well appointed and has constRead moreant hot water and an efficient heating system. The furnishings are comfortable and a cleaning company ensures the property is thoroughly cleaned. A gorgeous cottage with stunning views. Its quirky and plenty of room for 8 of us to either be together or do our own thing. We thoroughly enjoyed Old Borough House and we really appreciated the bag of goodies! I am sure we will be back again in the future.

My friends and I agreed that this is one of the best holiday rentals we've had. A well equipped kitchen with a welcome pack that went beyond the usual milk, tea and coffee, (local beer and biscuits much appreciated). The bedrooms were lovely and the beds very comfortable. Tintagel's main street was only a short walk away as was the nearby cove (thoRead moreugh that was a little steeper). We had an exceedingly good cream tea at the tearooms by the cove. Hide

Great little cottage. A bit isolated so needs good weather as not much to do with family when it rains. Definitely need a car but some great coastal walks. A shame the castle was closed when we were there as building a new walkway.

The Old Borough House is a historic and unique property set in an excellent location. It is perfectly situated for those looking to go walking over the beautiful scenic cliffs between Tintagel and Boscastle. It is also a great location from which to explore North Cornwall and beyond.

This is the second time of staying at this property - last time our grandson was only just crawling, hes now nearly three but the younger is 13 months and toddling and we found it very challenging. So future guests bear this in mind that theres nowhere to gate off for small children! On the positive side the huge play chest was a godsend and kept tRead morehem occupied for hours. Ideal for large groups or families as the bedrooms were great. Not very close to the sea or beach at all. We loved the log fire in the autumn evenings and the garden was safe for dogs but very tiny. Large kitchen and dining room were great.
