Six Castlegate is such a beautiful, spacious property. We loved our stay and the house was very clean, the beds were extremely comfortable, and its location is great for stepping into the town as well as for driving further into the lakes. It was definitely value for money!

Our second visit to 6 Castlegate (three families) was another excellent one. It's a great location for exploring the N, NW and W fells in particular in the shorter autumn days and we all enjoyed the varied and excellent shops, pubs and restaurants in Cockermouth, right on the doorstep. Lovely street house situated in the lovely town of Cockermouth. One point which I feel quite strong about is the description of 7 bedrooms. It should be listed as 6. The 7th is located on the ground floor consisting of bunk beds and little else. Not comfy at all and certainly does not hit the spot for an adult to sleep in. Nor children as it isolatRead moreed near the reception entrance area. 6 other bedrooms were good. The owners were lovely & very accommodating especially when the boiler did not work. Hide

Excellent accommodation and exactly right for a large group. Plenty of hot water was a great help. The two large public/gathering rooms were ideal. Add to that the general elegance of a listed property and you have the elements to make staying at No.6 a memorable and delightful time.
