Head to this gorgeous stone property in Dalavich, 25 miles from Oban and close to Loch Awe, in magical westerly reaches of Scotland. This cottage, which was once a schoolhouse, in now a fabulous holiday home, which sleeps up to eight guests and also welcomes up to three of their canine companions. A superb base for a group break, it could be ideal for two families or a party of friends who are eager to immerse themselves in scenic Scottish surroundings. For that extra special touch, it comes with its own hot tub, wood burner and enclosed garden.

Wander into the inviting property via the lobby, where you can leave any outerwear and dog leads, and make your way into the generous, open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner. Gather together in here after each exciting adventure to unwind on the soft seating in front of a good movie on the Smart TV. On chilly days, fire up the wood burner and play games in here too as the fire crackles in the background. During warmer weather, pull open the bi-folding doors in the dining area so everyone can flow in and out easily. Find the kitchen space has a useful central island, with breakfast bar, where you can sip a cool glass of wine and chat to the chef in your party as they prepare dinner, using the exceptional range of equipment provided. Lay the table inside or out to enjoy your jolly holiday meals together. Find there is also a utility room and a shower room at ground-floor level, as well as two double bedrooms. Venture up to the floor above to discover a family bathroom, a twin bedroom and a king-size room. Enjoy your outside space with its leafy views on fine sunny days. This beautiful property is ideally situated for eager walkers, hikers, nature lovers and cyclists wanting to explore a remote and beautiful part of the Argyll countryside.

There are plenty of cycle trails and forest walks from the doorstep, including the Dalavich Oakwood Trail, Avich Falls and Otter Point. Nature lovers will be in their element too, with chances to spot a variety of wildlife including red squirrels, pine martens, woodpeckers, deer and otters. Fishing enthusiasts can head across the road to the magnificent Loch Awe, which stretches along for some 24 miles and is known for its trout and salmon. The impressive Kilchurn Castle (24.5 miles) stands at the head of the loch, with the historic St Conan’s Kirk nearby (22.5 miles). Fishing permits and boat hire can be obtained locally from Loch Awe Boats.

Other local attractions include Innis Chonnel Castle (19 miles), Kintail Birds of Prey Argyll (17 miles) and Dunstaffnage Castle (25 miles). A little further on, the bustling town of Oban (27 miles) has a great range of shops, pubs and restaurants, and is known as the Gateway to the Isles, with boat trips and ferries available to explore the stunning islands of Mull, Jura and Islay.

A lovely stay at the School House in an absolute stunning location. Lots of long quietwalks from the door step so did not need to travel any where. Some lovely spots on loch Awe for a dip and swimming. Wildlife was abundant with Golden Eagle, Osprey spotted loads of Tawny Owls in the evening look for a whistle and you will be able to call them in. Cottage is huge, lounge is extremely comfortable especially with the wood burning stove. Beds are comfortable and views superb. The kitchen has everything you need for cooking for a large (7) family, having a dishwasher is a great help.Also the games & books are a bonus. Local area is superb for gentle walks. We enjoyed a family gathering for my dads 70th. The cottage is comfortable and the hot tub is a definite plus! There are lovely walks from the cottage and Dalavich has a nice cafe for hot drinks. It is remote and there are no food shops for miles, so I recommend stocking up before getting there! The loch is not as accessible as wed hoped (there areRead more places not far by foot to access the water but it wasnt somewhere to wander down to from the cottage) but that didnt detract from a great stay. The School House is perfect for a break away. This is the second time we've visited. The first with family and the second with friends. Beds are really comfy, the house is really well equipped and the garden is big enough to play games and relax

We had a lovely time at the School House which was very remote and well out of the way from the rest of civilisation. The cottage was very well equipped with everything you could want. We had a great time despite the rain. Beautiful place , we stayed here for a week with 3 teenagers 2 adults and our pet dog and all thoroughly enjoyed every second. Home from home stay didn't want to leave ! Ticked all the boxes and more already looking at booking again. Definitely recommend to anyone who likes peace ,quiet and beautiful scenery !

Lovely house and would certainly stay here again. Very well equipped and very comfortable. There were 6 of us staying and we never felt like we were on top of each other with plenty of space to relax. The location is stunning and very peaceful. The School House is a beautiful holiday home, we could not fault it in any way. It is very homely, very spacious, beautiful furnished and very well equiped. Great hot tub and spacious garden. I felt sad to leave. We will definitely consider visiting again.

Wow! This house is stunning. The kitchen is like a kitchen you see on cooking shows and loaded with equipment. A nice welcome pack which was great. This place was clean quiet and spacious. Absolutely brilliant for us, extended family of 8 and 2 dogs. The house was beautiful plenty of room for all and the garden is genuinely large, dog friendly and secure, we have been to other properties that have exaggerated this but not School House. Beautiful home in a beautiful location, hot tub was a lovely feature as was the fire in the living room. Kitchen and dining room is a great space. Beds were comfortable, clean fresh sheets.
