A wonderful period property for special occasions and social gatherings, surrounded by open countryside and within easy reach of the outdoor attractions of the Scottish Highlands.

A traditional Victorian shooting lodge, including its own stylish games room with billiard table, this is the perfect base for a large group wishing to enjoy the peace and privacy of a Highland estate. Sleeping 18 guests across nine bedrooms, a combination of doubles and twins, the property offers you the best of both worlds: staying close to the lodge, relaxing and socialising, as well as venturing out to explore the wild beauty of the area. There are walks galore, as the lodge is only 1 mile from Loch Broom, and surrounded by the peaks Beinn Dearg and Sgurr Mor.

 

At the lodge, inviting deep sofas, richly-toned rugs, and vibrantly patterned soft furnishings welcome you inside. Step into the quirky and colourful entrance hall, where you can sit on a chair and remove your shoes. Any wet clothes, if you’ve been out hiking and the famous Scottish weather has descended on you, can go straight into the handy drying room. From there, gather in the kitchen/diner to decide what’s for dinner, and who’s cooking. Bright and homely, with painted units, the kitchen/diner has a cheerful farmhouse feel. While half your party prepares food at the kitchen island, the others can be chatting about plans for tomorrow at the breakfast table and sofa. Celebrate your holiday in style with a meal in the formal dining room, and when everyone’s finished the two dishwashers will take care of the washing up. Chilly evenings are no problem, and you can get cosy with a roaring fire in both the beautiful sitting room and the games room. Curl up on one of the comfortable sofas to read and relax, or challenge one another at billiards. There’s a double bedroom on the ground floor, but for the rest of the pretty bedrooms you’ll need to climb the staircase. Unwind with a hot bath or shower and then drift off to sleep hearing nothing but the sound of the wind and the calls of birds and local wildlife.

The lodge has plenty of activities right on its doorstep. Fly fishing on the River Broom runs from mid-June until the end of September, and the estate has four rods. Fish for salmon or trout on the remote hill lochs around the property. There's also stalking available for one or two rifles from August.

 

Head up to the fishing port of Ullapool, just 8 miles away, for a bit of retail therapy and a pit stop at a pub before you head out for walking. If golf is more your thing, the picturesque Ullapool Golf Course is set on the shores of Loch Broom. Take a cruise ship to Loch Broom and the Summer Isles from Ullapool Harbour and see what wildlife you can spot.

 

Enjoy walks whatever your ability further afield but still not far from the property; wander through gentle woodland beside the Black Water River from Silverbridge (23 miles) and Little Garve Bridge (24 miles). Black Water Falls (23 miles) is a sight to behold, with tumbling peaty waters glistening with white plumes. Take in the beautiful scenery around Corrieshalloch Gorge or climb one of the many Munros. Children will enjoy the Highland Museum of Childhood (33.5 miles), which tells the story of childhood in the Highlands in years gone by.

A great house for a large group of friends or family. Really well equipped and in a good location for exploring North West Scotland. I would happily come back.

Very comfortable house that sleeps 8 couples in en-suite bedrooms so everyone is happy with their room. Amazing property. Wonderful location. Gorgeous walk to the waterfalls up the hill and back along the river. Lovely dining space, great kitchen island and simply the best showers ever. Gorgeous house in beautiful setting ideal for large groups. Sixteen of us had a fabulous week in Inverbroom Lodge. Good weather meant we could take advantage of the lovely garden and outside seating too. You can walk, run and cycle from the house into amazing countryside. Driving for up to an hour takes you to much of the North West of Scotland incRead moreluding beaches of Wester Ross and numerous mountains.
