This beautiful Lakeland house offers an ideal getaway for the family nestled between the Lake district and Yorkshire dales national parks

Located in a rural Lake District village to the north of Kendal, this beautifully renovated traditional Lakeland farmhouse enjoys a delightful riverside location and makes a beautiful holiday home for a group of friends or a larger family seeking a secluded and idyllic retreat. With the Lake District to the west and the Yorkshire Dales to the east, this magical 17th-century property is ideally situated for guests who are looking to explore this stunning area. Offering ample space for eight guests across four cosy bedrooms, this is a fantastic base for keen walkers, cyclists and nature-lovers with plenty of opportunities nearby for activities including kayaking, mountain biking, canoeing and climbing.

Entering the cottage, you will find yourself in the light and welcoming lounge, which features plenty of comfortable seating and a Smart TV, making this a lovely space to relax and chat or watch a movie in the evening. The room also features original beams and a traditional wood burner set in a whitewashed stone inglenook. Behind the lounge is the stylish kitchen/diner, newly kitted out for 2020 but retaining its warm farmhouse ambience and original ceiling beams. The kitchen is fully equipped and a pleasure to prepare meals in, which you can then enjoy in the attractive dining area. Four bedrooms can be found on the first floor: two king-size rooms with river views, a master bedroom with a king-size zip-and-link bed, and a children’s bunk bedroom tucked away and hidden by a secret door. The property also features a ground-floor shower room and a first-floor family bathroom. Stepping outside, the picturesque garden has seating and a table, and makes a lovely spot to relax in. Logs and fresh eggs can be purchased next door.

Cottage was great. Well decorated and equipped and in a fantastic location. Close to lots of places to visit. You do have to drive on a single track country road to reach it, so not for nervous drivers, but once you reach the property it is well worth it. A great stay in a beautiful house. We were two families of four and the accommodation worked really well. The house is situated in a perfect position next to a brook which the children loved playing in and with easy access to the lakes.

The cottage was beautifully furnished and clean though smelled a bit damp. The rooms were all a good size. It was about 20 mins to Kendal for groceries with 10 min drive down narrow windy roads but beautiful scenery and walks. Had all we needed except a workable tin opener and sufficient fly killers. Had a lovely family holiday though with lots of space. Hide

Lovely cottage in a remote but beautiful location - exactly what we wanted. The decor and furnishings are top class as are the fixtures and fittings. Cooking pots pans and utensils are plentiful and again high end. We stayed just two of us and the cottage still felt cosy and homely. We had a lovely time and would definitely return.

Throughly enjoyed our week at this holiday farmhouse. Everything was immaculate. Lots of country walks and bike rides. We enjoyed visiting Kendal, Keswick and Staveley. Food was great and luckily we had the help out to eat out scheme too. Definitely would book another week away here.
