Combining character features with contemporary style, this spacious barn conversion boasts an enviable location with stunning views in the Nidderdale AONB.

Studded against the stunning backdrop of the Nidderdale Valley a mere 9 miles from Harrogate is this charming former barn that sleeps 12 across five bedrooms. Homely and comfortable with ample room for socialising as a large group, you’ll soon find yourselves gathering your entire party for leisurely mealtimes followed by adventures galore across the surrounding countryside. The village of Darley has two historic churches, a friendly shop and a pub, so you’ll certainly experience a slice of countryside life during your stay. Once you tire of exploring, your accommodation is ideal for relaxing whether you are tempted by the roaring wood burner or the exclusive hot tub outside.

Boasting stone walls and timber beams, the interiors of your abode have been thoughtfully styled to blend chic decor with period features. Join together in the lounge/diner for film nights, board games and hearty meals, lighting the wood burner for an extra sense of cosiness. There’s a traditional kitchen fitted with a range of gadgets primed for cooking up a storm, and there is a handy utility room with paddle-stairs leading to a bedroom. At bedtime, the main staircase also reveals a fabulous bathroom with a roll-top bath and four further bedrooms, two of which have elegant en-suite shower rooms. On clear evenings stargazing is a must from the vantage point of your sheltered hot tub, ideally with a glass of wine in hand. Hammock-style seating provides an alternative perch for those who don’t fancy getting their toes wet, and there is a patio with a BBQ for dining alfresco. The views from the garden are spectacular and a sheer treat over your morning coffee.

Stretching in all directions, the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is a playground for explorers, but amongst the heather-strewn wilderness are glimpses of times gone by such as industrial remnants, mysterious ruins and old structures. Harrogate is a magnificent town steeped in history with a contrasting contemporary vibe thanks to the bars, bistros, and restaurants. Retail therapy enthusiasts will adore the range of shops on offer, but there are cultural landmarks including museums, art galleries and ancient buildings to visit too. For walkers, the Dales Way route offers a wonderful way to discover the beautiful countryside from the vantage point of Ilkley 14.5 miles away, a market town with a rolling calendar of events including the Ilkley Summer Festival and the annual Literature Festival. Bolton Abbey 14 miles away is a great place to visit to see the imposing ruins, and Pateley Bridge 7.5 miles away is the starting point of the Curlew Trail for hilltop explorations.

A warm, comfortable and quirky property in a splendid setting. With some tlc and repair to one of the showers we would happily revisit.
