Originally two houses, this home has been transformed into one large space, perfect for hosting a gathering with the ones you love. Set in the spectacular countryside of Northumberland, this cottage is positioned on the edge of the River Breamish on the Harehope Estate. Enjoy a tranquil stay, with horses for neighbours and birdsong as your new alarm clock.

You arrive at this property over an old stone bridge, feeling like you've been transported back to simpler times. The location has an air of exclusivity about it, with a spacious lawn wrapping around the house and tall trees gathered around. The decor is traditional, modest and extremely cosy. There are two lounge areas on the ground floor where guests can relax, indulge in long conversations that take you well into the night and snooze in the glow of the wood burner. One lounge is ideal for hosting a film night on the Smart TV, whereas the other is suited for basking in the warmth of the fire with a good book. The kitchen/diner is a wonderful communal space that is exceptionally homely and warm. There is a big American-style fridge/freezer for you to stock with all the local produce you find, as well as a dishwasher for making the clean up after mealtimes slightly easier. Behind the dining table is a wood burner which sets a snug and wholesome atmosphere for an evening meal, or better yet a Sunday roast. Days exploring the countryside are sure to come with a side of mud, fortunately, there is a handy boot room and laundry room downstairs for brushing off, washing, and drying so you don't need to overpack. Upstairs there are five bedrooms including one king-size, one double and one twin. There are also two adjoining bedrooms, one double and one twin. On this floor, there are also two bathrooms that both offer tubs perfect for soaking your tired muscles. Outside, there is both a vast lawn and verdant yard, perfect for children and dogs to play and run free. There is parking for four cars at the property as well as dog kennels and runs within the garden.

Advice for future guests, take coal, logs kindling and fire lighters as none are provided. Thermal pyjamas would be useful too!

The cottage is very spacious and really is off the beaten track. We were a party of 10 (6 adults, 4children and 3 dogs) we had plenty of room. We really enjoyed our stay, it was a perfect location for us 8 and 4 dogs, Lovely garden. I would say you need a car as its a few minutes drive from the nearest shop or pub. Heating was really good in one side of the house, not so good in the other, radiators didn't come on. It was perfect for us but is remote.

It was a rural property with beautiful views and was good of the owner to allow an extra dog, Instructions on how to use heating were not there and found difficulty in getting heating started. If you like the quiet country life this was ideal but the cottage needed upgraded.
