Situated between The Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, the historic village of Shap has lots to offer, including good pubs, a cafe, shops and an award-winning fish and chip shop. There is even a heated, open-air swimming pool (available between May and September). Haweswater, your nearest lake, is only 3 miles away and provides access to many of the great Lake District peaks. Keen walkers can take on part of Wainwright's Coast-to-Coast, or enjoy any of the vast array of fabulous routes in the surrounding area. Penrith, Kendal and Pooley Bridge are all within 15 miles. Lowther Castle and Gardens with its fabulous adventure play area and tearoom is just 7 miles away. Or why not visit Hill Top, former home to Beatrix Potter, and Dove Cottage where William Wordsworth once lived?

This beautiful and spacious property is set on the owner’s farmland. You enter into the handy porch, which leads into the hallway. From there, you find yourself in the fabulous open-plan lounge/kitchen/diner, the perfect space for spending time with your friends and family or just kicking back and relaxing. The beautiful kitchen has been thoughtfully designed and features a long breakfast bar, with a sunken rising extractor fan and a hidden corner pantry. There is a formal dining area with French doors out onto a small patio, the ideal place to sit with a morning coffee and admire the views. The dining area leads onto the cosy lounge area with comfortable seating, a wood burner, Smart TV and Sonos sound system. The stylish bay window provides a secondary seating area within the lounge and has large, picture windows that frame the countryside and fell views, a truly great place to relax and switch off. As you walk back into the hallway, there’s a separate WC under the stairs. Head up the staircase to the first floor, where you will find four spacious bedrooms. The first is a king-size bedroom with a dressing table and a built-in wardrobe. Next door is the family bathroom with free-standing bath, separate shower and WC. Then there is a second king-size bedroom with en-suite shower room. The third bedroom is a twin and the final bedroom is another king-size.

Outside, there is a spacious enclosed garden with a lawn and patio overlooking fields. The garden has lots of paved areas, so you can spend the day slowly following the sunshine, while reading a good book. There is also decked area which offers another great place to relax and enjoy drinks and conversation into the evening. Please be aware there is a burn which runs down the side of the garden, this is often empty but can become deeper in wet weather, young children should be supervised.

The environment is exceptional in a breathtaking location. We stayed at the house with three children and their Grandparents who all had a wonderful holiday. The house is well located for a number of attractions and walks. The village was well resourced and the owners were highly receptive to all enquiries. We would highly recommend Rigg Hall.
