Stepping into this charming property, which has a range of original features including characterful fireplaces, ceiling cornices, original windows and decorative tapestries, the bright and welcoming entrance hall leads you into the main lounge. This tastefully furnished and stylishly decorated room is a cosy space for relaxing in, with a TV/Blu-ray, comfortable seating and a lovely open fire. The traditional farmhouse-style kitchen is equipped with everything you may need to prepare your favourite meals and has a handy table where you can grab a snack or breakfast. For more formal meals or a special occasion, the grand dining room is furnished with an antique table and chairs. The ground floor also has a handy utility room with a shower and WC. Exploring this idyllic property further, there are four beautifully furnished twin bedrooms and two bathrooms. Going into the snug and warm games room, you can play billiards, darts or table tennis, or sit back and read a book by the open fire. Heading outside, the pretty garden has a burn running by, and makes a picturesque spot for a picnic on the patio. Panoramic views of the Dumfries and Galloway region surround the property which offers miles of breathtaking scenic walks right from the doorstep. There are plenty of activities to get involved in, including mountain biking, sailing, riding and golf. The historic market town of Castle Douglas (3 miles) has plenty of independent shops and pubs and has been designated a Food Town due to its numerous excellent places to eat, many of which offer plenty of local produce. You can also visit the beautiful Threave Garden and Estate (2 miles), or Threave Castle (3 miles) which is set on an island in the River Dee. Heading north you can explore the magnificent Galloway Forest Park (17 miles), or head south to the pretty beach in the thriving harbour town of Kirkcudbright (6.5 miles).

It was a really cosy and comfortable stay, everything was there you could possibly need, we had a very enjoyable time, would love to go again.

Spent a week here in mid-July with the family - 6 of us in total. We would normally go abroad during the summer but due to the situation we booked this property instead. This house was perfect. We had a marvellous time. The house lacked nothing our family required; even beach gear to borrow. The home is 'lived in' so very easy to relax in even with small children. The secure garden was brilliant for kids and dogs to enjoy; patio perfect for barbecue and al fresco meals. We lived like country gents at this lovely, old farmhouse. The carpets and furniture are well used, but totally in keeping with the the old farmhouse feel. Wonderful space indoors and out, well equipped. Family and dogs just loved being around here. A beautiful and peaceful setting. From our perspective this was a very good property in an beautiful rural location. Previous reviewers had left negative comments about tired or tatty furnishings, but This was emphatically not our experience. Not everything is pristine, but this is a lived-in family home with idiosyncracies and character. Simply put - the description/photos of the house in no way reflected the reality. We found the house - whilst spacious & in a great location - to be faded & shabby with threadbare carpets, peeling wallpaper , upholstered furniture stained & inadequate bathroom facilities. Cleaning had been superficial with a great deal of underlying grime. BasicallRead morey nothing has been spent on this house for many years - We did contact the owner and were told this was what we should expect of a FAMILY HOME ! Hide

This is a large and splendid old farmhouse set in beautiful countryside with great views, a large garden, tennis court and great games room. It is obviously a much loved family home and so you should not expect perfection when it comes to furnishings, furniture and equipment.
