This exceptional property (originally an 18th Century farmhouse now modernised for 21st Century living), combines the traditional and the contemporary, and is perfectly situated for exploring the Brecon Beacons National Park.

Ideal for families with children and friends, walking groups, cyclists, artists’ groups, or for those just chilling out at home in some of Britain’s most beautiful countryside. All the high ground of the National Park is within easy reach, Drostre Wood nearby (2 miles) is a great place to explore, and there is a bedroom with three single beds, great for sleepovers.

This house has style and country charm; relax in the comfortable sitting room with its oak parquet floor, original fireplace and new wood burner, comfortable sofas and chairs, and 43” Sony TV. Eat in the spacious, bright, and well-equipped kitchen/dining room, or barbecue and dine alfresco on the sheltered terrace on warm sunny evenings. Admire the views along the length of the Usk Valley, from Carmarthen Fan in the west to the Black Mountains in the east (one of the longest ridge views in Great Britain). Enjoy the quiet, and the night skies (the area has night sky status). And if it does rain, your muddy walking boots and wet clothes can dry in the adjoining boiler room.

With 4 double bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and a separate shower room, this much- admired house can accommodate 8 adults or 6 adults and 3 children.

So, summit the peaks (try the highest mountain in southern Britain, Pen-y-Fan, for breath-taking panoramic views), take canal walks, visit Llangors, the largest natural lake in South Wales, with many activities for a family day out, or drive to the bustling market town of Brecon (3 miles), to visit the new cultural centre (Ÿ Gaer), the Cathedral Church, and the Brecon and Monmouth Canal Basin.

And, for serious artists’ groups, an adjoining fully equipped studio with dark room and third bathroom, is available on request to the owner (supplementary charge).

Penrheol Farmhouse is lovely and is probably the best equipped house we have stayed in. It was the perfect place for our family holiday with large, comfortable bedrooms, 2 great bathrooms, a downstairs loo and plenty of living space. The views of the Beacons are superb and there are footpaths to the local pub and to walks along the river and canal.Read more The owner was at great pains to make sure we had everything we needed. Excellently located for the best of the Brecon Beacons, the farmhouse is spacious and light and had plenty of room for our two families. Highly recommended.

"Cottage" does not do this property justice; "Farmhouse" would be more accurate. Wonderfully spacious upstairs and down and really well equipped, it's perfect for large families (we were 2 families of 4). Wonderful views across the valley to the hills beyond from the house and beautiful, mature garden. The location is 10 minutes from Brecon, so youRead more're never far from anything you may need. Simply one of the best weeks we've had for a very long time, I can't recommend it highly enough. Hide

The cottage is well equipped, spacious and very comfortable. There are lovely gardens with stunning views of the Brecon Beacons. We were a party of six adults and two small children and fitted comfortably into the cottage with room to spare. We had a lovely time and couldn't recommend it more highly.
