Tucked between the historic market town of Richmond and the dainty village of Gilling West, this charming property is an ideal escape to reconnect and celebrate with the ones you love. Set on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales with an abundance of scenic trails on your doorstep, you'll soon be donning your walking boots ready for an adventure. Travel back in time with a visit to Richmond Castle, or sample delicacies from local traders on the cobbled market square. If you prefer a slower pace, there's a fantastic spa offering an extra slice of luxury, rounded off with a hearty supper at a nearby village pub.

Originally the family home of the Earl and Countess Ronaldshay, this elegant house combines period charm with contemporary comfort. The heart of the home is the exquisite drawing room, offering a sophisticated and deliciously comfortable space to relax by the open fire. Step through to the conservatory for an aperitif and breathtaking views of the garden, before an evening of fine dining by candlelight in the grand hall. You'll discover the impressive kitchen just along the hallway with French doors leading out to a pretty courtyard. The kitchen is well-equipped with an AGA-style oven, an additional gas oven and hob, an American-style fridge/freezer, dishwasher and microwave. A further fridge/freezer and dishwasher is located in the utility room. Wake up to fresh coffee and sizzling bacon, best enjoyed at the farmhouse dining table, or in the adjoining light-filled breakfast room. Next to the kitchen, the games room is an inviting setting to watch the Sky TV over a game of cards. Weary from the day's activities, retire for the night to one of nine bedrooms, each one unique with a different bathroom arrangement.

Downstairs you'll find a cosy twin with access to a walk-in shower room, whilst upstairs you'll find a further eight bedrooms: three super-kings, three twins, a single with additional trundle bed, and a double located adjacent to the laundry room. Back downstairs there's also a handy boot room, two separate WC's, and two cloakrooms for storing coats and shoes.

Outside, experience the sights and sounds of the quintessentially English countryside as you stroll through the enchanting walled garden. The garden furniture provides an irresistible spot for a traditional cream tea on the lawn, with lashings of clotted cream and jam.

Please note, the farmhouse sleeps a maximum of 18 guests (including infants) and the number of people in the property must not exceed this. Parties of additional people are prohibited unless permitted by special arrangement. We do not accept stag or hen groups. Same-sex groups by owner approval, please telephone before booking. This property requires payment of a £500 refundable security deposit payable, direct to the owner prior to your arrival.

Please note there is a refundable £500 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

A stunning location for a family get together! Olliver House is beautiful inside and out, decorated and furnished to a high standard. The bedding was lovely & there was plenty of kitchen equipment. The garden is big and beautifully kept. There were 13 of us and there's enough going on to keep you entertained at the house and in the surrounding areaRead more. My only slight criticism is that breakages are 10 - fortunately we had none but at that price it wasn't as relaxing as it could have been! Hide

Where to start with Olliver House?! By far the best home weve ever stayed in! We celebrated with family at Olliver House at the end of Feb for my husbands 40th birthday. More bathrooms than we could have wished for too! The kitchen/ dining area is fantastic and had everything we needed to cook for 18 of us all weekend. And no shortage of fridge/ freezer storage space which can sometimes be an issue in holiday houses. We ventured to Richmond & Gilling West briefly but the weekend for us was about being with family and relaxing. We really can not recommend Olliver House highly enough- a thoroughly beautiful place to stay. One of us wanted to leave come Monday morning! We are definitely considering a return stay soon.Oh, and thank to to Rebecca for her help and for being so welcoming when we arrived. Hide

Olliver House is a lovely house it has everything we needed for a celebration of my 65th birthday with the family including 4 grandchildren. Location was great. The bedrooms were very comfortable with lovely bathrooms and showers. Downstairs the underfloor heating was very efficient. A couple of the rooms had radiator problems - one off and one witRead moreh air in the system. We were very unfortunate that the main electric oven didnt work (and we assume was not reported by the previous users). We had never cooked in an Aga before so cooking for 16 using a small oven/grill and an Aga that took well over an hour to heat up was extremely stressful and did take the gloss off the weekend and if brutally Im honest ruined an otherwise lovely celebration meal. We used food supplied by Georgina Anderson catering service for the special 65th celebration meal. Id highly recommend the food. Unfortunately Georgina was double booked so we simply had to reheat 12 starters and 12 mains. Due to the lack of oven and the slow heat up of the Aga from cold it was anything but simple. We got to eat the starters at 9 pm and mains at 10pm rather than 8 pm The lounge and conservatory were lovely communal areas. The kitchen and attached side room were great communal spaces for most meals. Richmond Station and the walk to Easby Abbey was a highlight. The nearby Moors and Dales are beautiful and the locals all very friendly. The Caretaker was punctual helpful and very friendly too. Altogether a great place to stay. We did manage a great Sunday roast with the Aga and small oven but with a working main oven and a few more saucepan lids Olliver House would have got a 10 out of 10. The Aga should have a label on it and in the instructions saying Dont switch off for people like us that arent use to them. Also a suggestion in the house instructions of 10 per broken glass seemed a bit OTT as they didnt appear to be Dartington glass I was too annoyed by the lack of oven to comply.Joining instructions should say. Drive 500 yards into the estate, Olliver House is the large house on the left. Drive towards the wrought iron gates which will open automatically. Id give Olliver House A good 9/10 thats assuming 2 glasses arent deducted from our security deposit. Im sure the owners will get the oven fixed or replaced. Personally Id suggest 2 good conventional ovens over an Aga any day. When the oven gets fixed Id highly recommend Olliver House. Hide
