Keswick is a very family-orientated town, with several play parks and a great choice of places to eat. There are also some great tourist attractions, including The Puzzling Place where you can embrace the world of optical illusion and enjoy family fun in their anti-gravity room and hologram gallery. Outdoor enthusiasts will no doubt want to get out on the water at Derwentwater. There are numerous adventure companies offering group water-based activities, such as paddleboarding, canoeing and kayaking. Alternatively, grab a coffee and a slice of homemade cake from a cafe, and sit on one of the pebble beaches along the shore to admire the breathtaking scenery and watch all the action from dry land. If it’s jaw-dropping views you’re after, head to the summit of Catbells (6 miles). This is a great fell for those who are new to climbing – or those with little legs – as it’s one of the smaller Wainwrights, but still has one of the most impressive views in the whole of the Lake District.

This was the second time we had stayed at this delightful house and would not hesitate to come back again. However, it is advertised as having an enclosed garden but there is a gap in the wall where there has at one time been a gate. Lovely house in a beautiful town. Easy walk into the market square or down to the lake. Elegant and spacious rooms full of character. Great house in superb location. Fantastic family weekend, all equipment required (but make sure you bring your own towels as they are not provided!) Would reccomed this house. We ranged from 14 to 85yrs old and the location meant we could come and go doing different things. Plenty of bedroom options and lots of bathrooms.
