This impressive detached property provides a comfortable home from home, with a beautiful enclosed garden and sun terrace with BBQ, great for summer evenings. A perfect base for families and groups looking to explore this popular area.

Set in the Tamar Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, less than 1.5 miles from the River Tamar itself, this superb property is the ideal place for a group of friends or family to get together to mark a special occasion. With four bedrooms each with their own en-suite, two lounges and a fantastic open-plan kitchen/diner, this house is a sociable space for up to eight guests to find their favourite place to unwind. The owner has provided a picnic blanket and garden games for those times when only dining alfresco will do, but the stylish kitchen/diner provides the perfect spot for chillier days. And if you don’t want to cook, there’s a pub just 4 miles away.

As you step into this beautifully light and contemporary property and head through the hallway, you’re welcomed by the impressive open-plan living area that uses bright colours and sleek greys seamlessly to create a lively yet relaxing place to chat the evenings away or cook up a storm in the kitchen. Watch TV on the sofa looking out towards wonderful countryside, or head up the fantastic oak and glass stairwell to the first-floor lounge area that gives you views from an elevated position on the Juliet balcony. Warm natural tones and huge skylights make this a great place for catching up with your guests or maybe even playing some games. Sit out on the sun terrace with an al fresco drink while the chef of the party sizzles up the BBQ; the lawn is the ultimate spot for children to play on, but they will love the shared play paddock on the 2 acres of grounds that you’re welcome to explore. When you’re worn out, head to the spacious bedrooms; each one is decorated in calming, neutral colours to promote a tranquil night’s sleep. If you’ve got smaller guests, the super-king-size zip-and-link bedroom has two pull-out beds so you’re able to sleep up to ten. Wake up refreshed and ready to take on the three public footpaths that are accessible from the property for an invigorating morning walk.

The design of this house is just perfect!! Its ideal for a family holiday. Our grandchildren just loved it. Its warm, light and airy and there's so much space. Lovely property and location. I would stay there again. Worth checking if building works are completed before booking. Lovely cottage, clean, comfortable, well equipped and plenty of room. Hosts Liz and David are very helpful, provided loads of information before we arrived on the surrounding area. We particularly liked watching David developing the garden over the week and look forward to returning to see the project when it is finished.

We had a great family holiday with plenty of space for us all. We do think that the ongoing building work on site should be pointed out prior to booking but as we went out most days not to much of problem, it will be nice when this large project is finished.

The property is at least as good as it appears in the pictures - they don't really convey the sheer size and spaciousness of the upper sitting area. There are a few good walks from the property itself and the A388 isn't far away - giving easy access to both the southern coast and the west side of Dartmoor, plus the very handy Waitrose in Karkeel!
