An opportunity to stay at this Grade II Listed house surrounded by smaller cottages and referred to as a “village within a village” in the heart of Appledore, offering a truly unique experience in a very special location.

Picturesque Appledore is a wonderful vantage point for enjoying North Devon’s spectacular beaches and delightful market towns, and this attractive cottage sleeps ten guests across five bedrooms. Positioned close to the harbour, you’ll soon be enjoying gentle walks with a view and all the local fare you can eat. Tailor your holiday to suit everyone’s individual style, descending on the beaches for water sports and beach games or pottering around a pretty market town in search of a quintessential cream tea.

Forming part of a cluster of properties, a doorway reveals a Mediterranean-style shared courtyard lined with colourful cottages and shrouded by hanging baskets and potted shrubs. Inside, the property is beautifully stylish with homely interiors and traditional furniture designed with comfort in mind, whether you are rustling up something delicious in the sleek kitchen or pouring a glass of wine ready to take a seat at the table. A crackling wood burner takes centre stage in the lounge, inviting you to relax on the sofas and watch all your favourite shows. Due to the age of the property, there are several sets of steps once you head upstairs via the Victorian staircase. This reveals three bedrooms on the first floor and a family bathroom followed by two further bedrooms on the second floor. A Jack and Jill shower room connects the two second-floor rooms, although both can also be reached via their own staircase. Beware of reduced head height! One of the first-floor bedrooms features a compact en-suite shower room as a bonus treat. Outside, the shared garden has a lawn, patio and BBQ complete with a garden studio equipped with a pool table. Roadside parking is nearby subject to availability.

The picturesque village of Appledore is straight off a postcard with its gently winding streets and delightful array of shops and pubs. The harbour offers marvellous views over the estuary to Instow, a twin harbour village across the water. A sweet ferry operates from here, bringing a small number of passengers to Instow where you can embrace the sandy beach and grab a bite to eat in the deli or in one of two pubs. The Tarka Trail passes through here too, inviting walkers and cyclists to soak up the scenery as they make their way to Fremington (10 miles) in one direction, and Bideford (4 miles) in the other. For days out, The Big Sheep is fun for everyone (4 miles), as is The Milky Way Adventure Park (11.5 miles), or why not try something quirky and visit the Gnome Reserve (10.5 miles)?
