This impressive farmhouse is brimming with old-world charm, providing a base for eight guests to explore ancient woodland, majestic mountain ranges and the glacial lakes of Bassenthwaite and Derwentwater.

This impressive holiday home is situated on the edge of Whinlatter Forest Park, providing you and your fellow guests with a fabulous selection of walks and bike rides directly from your front door. You’ll also be within easy reach of the bustling market town of Keswick (3.5 miles), where you’ll find a great selection of outdoor adventure companies. The farmhouse sleeps eight guests across four bedrooms and welcomes one canine buddy, making it ideal for large families and groups of friends. The property is incredibly spacious, with a lounge and snug providing ample room for everyone to relax. The outdoor area is ideal for entertaining, with a large patio and built-in BBQ, as well as a fully enclosed lawn where children can play.

The property has an idyllic setting, surrounded by trees and mountains, and is reached via a quiet country lane. Once inside, a warm welcome awaits, thanks to two roaring wood burners and cosy underfloor heating. At the heart of the home is the vast kitchen/diner. This space is ideal for hosting dinner parties, with a chic kitchen, double oven, and large dining table to seat everyone. The kitchen/diner is full of character, with a beamed ceiling and elegant slate flooring. The spacious property boasts two reception rooms; come together to watch a film on the TV in the lounge or get cosy in the snug with your favourite book. This room also has a TV/DVD, so there’s no need to argue over what to watch! An original staircase, with many steps and turns, leads to the four bedrooms, so take care when ascending and descending. The farmhouse has two outdoor areas, meaning you can follow the sun throughout the day. There’s an enclosed lawn to the front of the property, and a large patio to the rear where you can enjoy evening meals under the stars. The property has ample off-road parking.

Whinlatter Forest Park offers fun for all the family. Follow the waymarked tracks to explore the forest, stopping off at the picturesque picnic spots along the way. There is also a network of exhilarating mountain bike trails. Those seeking an adrenaline rush can swing through the trees on the high ropes and whizz along the zip wires at Go Ape. For something a little more serene, head to Bassenthwaite Lake (2.5 miles). Meander along its peaceful western shores, paddling in the water and admiring the stunning reflections. Round off the day with a trip to The Lakes Distillery, on the shores of Bassenthwaite, where you can sample the artisan whiskies, gins, and vodkas, followed by dinner at the stylish bar and bistro by the water.

We absolutely loved this cottage. Weve stayed in many holiday cottages over the years and this was one of the very best. Brilliantly equipped, beautifully decorated, in the perfect setting.

This is an absolutely fantastic property in an ideal location to explore the Lake District. It is clear when this house was renovated that the owners have spent significant money to make sure that anyone renting the property has everything they need. It is our 4th time to Hallgarth Farm. It suits our needs to a T. Location is fabulous. Beds are so comfortable. I'm sure we will be back.

An absolutely fantastic property. Plenty of room, great kitchen. Very well stocked. Utility excellent for muddy boots and wet coats. Showers excellent. Really couldn't fault it!! The best cottage in 18 years! Two small niggles were that there was no plug on the bath and in the second double bedroom ensuite the small showerhead didn't work although Read morethe main rainwater shower was great. Both things have been reported so will hopefully be fixed quickly. We will be back! Hide

I would wholly recommend this property- beautiful house, lovely decor, comfortable beds and scenery spectacular. The kids loved watching the lambs, many walks from the door or nearby and Keswick handily close for supplies. Did not want to leave !

Absolutely loved Hallgarth Farm for our 3 generation family gathering. A few bangs on the head with the low beams but we soon got used to "ducking". A fantastic place to stay and we would certainly return. So much character and so much space for everyone. Loved it.

The house is utterly delightful in so many ways and offers a peaceful and secluded trip to the beautiful lakes with out the hustle of the busy parts of the area
