Midway between Aberdeen and Inverness, the picturesque Victorian village of Craigellachie sits on the banks of the River Spey and is home to thriving independent stores, art galleries and welcoming pubs and restaurants. Pull on your walking boots for a day hiking the Speyside Way which runs next to the house or spend the day discovering the rugged Cairngorms National Park (23 miles). Speyside is home to almost 50 whisky distilleries, over half of the working distilleries in Scotland. Sample some of the whiskies available on a tour of The Macallan distillery in the village or experience the ancient art of coopery at Speyside Cooperage. Pedal your way through the Glenlivet Estate (15 miles) or activate the adrenalin with an off-road adventure across the estate.

Enjoying a central position in the Moray valley, your holiday home is perfectly situated to explore the glorious landscape by foot or cycle, enjoy salmon fishing in the world-famous beats along the River Spey or discover local attractions such as the Walkers Shortbread Factory and Baxter's Visitor Centre. Approached along the sweeping driveway that leads through the extensive gardens, park your car alongside the property, and enter the front door into the spacious entrance hall where there's plenty of room for walking boots and coats. There's storage for all your provisions in the generous kitchen/diner where you will find everything you need including electric oven and hob, fridge, under-counter freezer, dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer to make your stay a home-from-home. Enjoy leisurely meals at the elegant dining table overlooking the gardens as you plan your next day's adventures. After a long day of outdoor pursuits, relax into one of the comfortable sofas in the living room and watch the flickering flames in the open fireplace. Younger guests can spend time in the family room with TV and Xbox One giving the adults some peace and quiet. The five bedrooms are also on this level, all of which are named after the various rivers in the Spey catchment. Three of the bedrooms are light and airy with super king-size zip and link beds and plenty of storage space for all your belongings. The beds are dressed in distinctive local tartans giving each room a warm and individual feel. There is a further room with king-size zip and link bed and an additional cosy single with pull out trundle bed. Enjoy an indulgent soak in the free-standing tub in the spacious family bathroom that comes complete with separate shower and WC. Heading deeper into the property you will find an additional contemporary shower room with WC.

Outside, you have over 1.5 acres of secure, enclosed garden to explore. Play ball games on the lawn or spread out your blanket for an al fresco picnic. Fire up the BBQ for an early evening meal before heading into the garage games room for a table tennis tournament late into the night.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

My family of 7 adults, 2 children and 2 dogs had a wonderful stay at Guisachan. The house was beautiful and equipped with everything we needed. The men folk enjoyed visiting the local distilleries of which there are many. We had wonderful walks in Aberlour and visited a local stately house in Ballindalloch which also had a good play area for the kiRead moreds. Had a good meal at the Mash Tun in Aberlour. Visited quite a few of the near towns, the only thing that let us down was the weather. The dogs had a brilliant time exploring the excellent garden and we even had a visit from a deer one night. A brilliant week was had by all. Hide

This was my family's first trip to Scotland (5 of us in total), so I wanted it to be a really good, relaxing experience for everyone. Craigellachie was the perfect location for this and stay in Guisachan was an absolute winner. It ticked all the boxes for everyone, I actually found myself not wanting to leave the cottage to explore the surrounding Read moreareas on most days. My daughter and I had a great time playing badminton, football and cricket with my son watching on. My wife and mum enjoyed the long walks around the property, actually the sunset views from this property are awesome, I would just spend evenings sitting outside watching the sun go down. The cottage has everything you can think of and much more. The home owner, Mr. Davies, made us feel most welcome and replied to our phone calls and text whenever we had questions. As for Craigellachie and surrounding areas, its just a lovely place. I highly recommend visiting the Highlander Inn - great food and great collection of whiskey. We also visited the Speyside Cooperage to see how casks are made, well worth a visit. Our experience Craigellachie and Guisachan was first class, it will be our go to location whenever we visit the North East of Scotland Hide

The property is located in a beautiful picturesque location... a place that appears straight from a postcard. The house is big enough for two large families. We were a group of 6 people with 2 kids. The bedrooms are quite spacious and there are two large family rooms. The kitchen-dining area is the best part of the house. The kitchen is luxurious aRead morend is loaded with equipments and kitchenware. The house is beautifully maintained and has every comfort needed for a great stay. There are a lot of indoor and outdoor games and equipments. We spent all our evenings playing cricket/table tennis and had a great time in the house. We got complementary initial supply of milk, bread, juice, cake and eggs - which was quite a sweet gesture. The market though isn't very far and there are a few nice restaurants/pubs nearby. We loved our morning walks along the river. There are a lot of nice attractions to see nearby - speyside bay, Lossiemouth beach, Glenmore forest park, Loch Morlich, Elgin and a number of single malt distilleries. The house is easy to locate and the detailed instructions with the map were shared with us before the trip. The house owner and the caretaker were very helpful and responded to our questions/doubts in no time. The owner was always available for any help even though he was out of country. We left some stuff behind and the owner even agreed to ship them back. A big thanks for the wonderful hosting - we are happy customers and will definitely come back in winters. Hide

Guisachan provides the perfect holiday accommodation for the young and the young at heart. It is situated in the heart of Speyside with beautiful views over the River Spey and provides easy access to the area's many attractions. The Macallan Visitor Experience, for example, is a must see and is only a few miles away. Guisachan has been very tastefuRead morelly decorated and furnished throughout. The spacious living areas and large kitchen/dining room provide ample space for large groups yet allow for more privacy if required. The bedrooms can be used flexibly, a bonus for family groups, and the bathrooms are luxurious. The owners have added some very thoughtful finishing touches including a very well equipped kitchen, TVs and audio equipment in most rooms, books and DVDs, useful information about local attractions and even a starter pack with milk, bread, tea and coffee etc. There is a lovely child friendly garden and ample parking. I would recommend Guisachan highly. Hide
