Situated within a pretty village near the northern tip of the Yorkshire Dales, this home from home offers a great base for visiting many of Yorkshire's attractions and uncovering the picture-perfect countryside that surrounds you. With a welcoming country pub and local shop practically on your doorstep, you needn't venture too far - the jewel of North Yorkshire, Richmond, is just 3.5 miles away. Here you can visit the famous Richmond Castle, Easby Abbey or the Green Howards military museum, along with plenty of independent shops, quaint eateries and traditional pubs. Travel a little further to arrive on the outskirts of the Yorkshire Dales National Park which boasts endless walking and cycling trails.

 

Step inside and find luxurious interiors and a relaxed charm that creates a truly grand atmosphere in this impressive manor house. At the heart of the cottage is the fabulous kitchen, offering the perfect space for cooking, entertaining and informal dining. Double doors lead onto the formal dining room, boasting enviable views out to the attractive gardens. Make your way through another set of doors to discover the beautiful lounge, complete with stunning marble fireplace, comfortable seating and plenty of space to host your entire party. The interlinking rooms create an outstanding space for families and groups to come together on a grand scale. You'll also find a high-tech cinema room boasting integrated surround sound, perfect for a relaxed evening. The six bedrooms are set out over the first and second floor, along with five bathrooms. The first room is a beautiful master bedroom with stunning en-suite boasting a free-standing bath so you can lose yourself in the bubbles of an evening. The second is a delightful family room with a double and two single beds, while the third is an attractive double bedroom, and all share a family bathroom. The forth and fifth bedrooms are both doubles complete with en-suites. The second floor is home to a generous room with two double beds and a luxurious bathroom with a feature free-standing bath creating a tranquil space in the eaves of the manor.

 

There is much to enjoy outside too. The gorgeous gardens with an enclosed lawn area is perfect for children and a stunning stone terrace with garden furniture creates the perfect spot for some al fresco dining, especially with the BBQ that is available upon request. Enjoy the croquet lawn for hours of family fun and fire up the outdoor stone fireplace so you can make the most of the outside space well into the evening. The gardens really echo the stunning interiors of the house, boasting well-maintained flower beds and the wonderful scent of lavender, all with the striking Georgian house as the backdrop. This property also offers off-road parking.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.

This holiday home has a great location, set at the northern tip of the Yorkshire Dales and 28 miles from Middlesborough, it's an ideal basecamp from which to strike out and discover these unique Yorkshire locations. Reeth (14 miles) and the stunning landscapes of Swaledale (7 miles) and Arkengarthdale (21 miles) are within easy reach.

The cottage is set in the heart of a very pretty village. If you're a bit of a foodie there are several excellent dining pubs in the area as well as a deli, tea room and farm shop. It's also the perfect location if you enjoy walking, there are lots of beautiful routes from the doorstep and its known as a great starting point for walking - seasoned ramblers come from miles around to set off from the village.

North of the village is the charming town of Barnard Castle (12 miles). The excellent Bowes Museum is here and is worth a visit and, as the name would suggest, there's a historic castle to explore too.

This stunning large luxury cottage is also just 4 miles away from Richmond, a historic market town with much to offer the discerning holidaymaker. Explore the cobbled market square or head up towards Richmond Castle for a slice of Yorkshire history. Just a short drive through Richmond takes you into the heart of the Yorkshire Dales. Head up towards Reeth (15 miles) and on towards Hawes (29 miles) in Wensleydale for a true taste of this magnificent countryside.

Further south, you'll find the pretty market town of Northallerton (20 miles) where handsome Georgian houses line the long main street.

To take in the North York Moors, travel 40 miles and brave it up Sutton Bank, the view from the top is said by some to be the finest in all of England but we doubt you’ll want to travel far when you can lounge at this beautiful property.

We had a fab long weekend here with all the family and the house was great! Gorgeous property with loads of space, the kids enjoyed exploring the gardens and snuggling up in the tv room. Could not of chosen a nicer place to celebrate my wifes 60th birthday with our family. The lodge was very spacious, warm, well kept and comfortable. It was also well located to the local pub especially in times of inclement weather serving good food. Richmond was also within 45mins walking distance. Luxurious home, comfortably slept 16 people. The house is very modern and well equipped for a short stay. Garden area is immaculate. If you are looking for a quiet get away with the added luxury this is ideal.

We had a wonderful birthday celebration for my husband at Gilling Lodge. The house is magnificent with high quality accommodation, fixtures and fittings. I cant guarantee everyone will have the same February weather as we did, but you will have a fabulous time!
