One of the first things that should be on your list is a visit to Cardoness Castle, less than 1 mile away. Dating back to the 15th century, Cardoness is a six-storey tower house infamous for its terrifying pit prison. Also nearby, Threave Gardens (14 miles), a place dedicated to training horticulturalists, the gardens boast year-round appeal and are a haven for wildlife, with both an osprey platform and a bat reserve.

A lovely cottage in a great location. Extremely well equipped kitchen with everything you could need for a large family group. Garden was a big hit with the children who loved playing hide and seek. Bedding and towels were good quality and beach towels were provided too which is a rarity. Overall, a fabulous stay.

A beautiful, cozy, charming cottage set in idyllic surroundings. The beds were also super comfortable! Location couldnt be better, walking distance to Gatehouse of Fleet and beautiful woodland walks on your doorstep. Easy access to explore the rest of Dumfries and Galloway, we couldnt have been happier with our choice.

This was a wonderful well equipped place to enjoy a family gathering. We all loved the spacious garden enabling games such as boules and kids' water fights and the well thought about little "doors" through the hedge were a delight for the children. A great location for exploring the beautiful area.

Cottage is lovely and cosy, in a lovely area and gorgeous views. The garden is also really great, lots of space for kids to run about. The double bedroom is a little on the small side but rest of the bedrooms are a great size.
