Stroll in via the porch and back door, past a utility room, with an additional freezer. Step up to discover the spacious kitchen/diner, where you can prepare delicious holiday meals for your friends and family using the produce you have shopped for. Find you also have a pantry, additional utility space and ground-floor WC. There is also a comfortable seating area, where you can relax in front of TV while supper sizzles. Lay the table in the magnificent dining room for special, celebratory meals. After dinner, wander through to the delightful lounge, with its revealed stone and timberwork, to spread out in comfort, fire up the wood burner and perhaps play a few games together. Members of your party could also pick out a few tunes on the piano or choose a film on TV or a DVD. Find you also have a study to do a little work in and a useful space for storing cycles and other gear. Climb the stairs to find a bunk bedroom on the first floor or head into the reception and hall, and make your way upstairs from there to discover a second lounge, plus a family bathroom. Take four steps up to an impressive king-size bedroom, with an antique, four-poster bed. Along the landing and down two more stairs are a twin room and family suite, with a double bed and adjoining bunk bedroom. There is also a family shower room. For our family, two parents, two grandparents and three small boys the accommodation was ideal. We felt it would be difficult to improve on the location with its access to streams to swim in, hills to climb and the narrow gauge railway. My only concern is that if I praise it too highly and more people come it will make it more difficult for me to bRead moreook it again. Hide

What a lovely location for a perfect holiday. Lots of walks from the door. Well equipped kitchen. The red squirrel visited daily along with the garden birds. The grand piano was a bonus although it needed tlc but was playable. The Eskdale to Ravenglass railway is a short walk away, two local pubs and a small gift shop in Boot. Looked as if it had been abandoned for months and not freshened & cleaned before we arrived. Only a small coffee press & no other coffee maker. Garden had great potential but over grown with weeds and grass. Sparse pans & utensils and all dirty.

Dalegarth Hall was in the most idyllic location. Lovely walking and wild swimming on your doorstep. The garden was superb with a wonderful selection of plants and vibrant colour in May. Very well supplied with three good pubs with in walking distance. Terrific location for climbing a few Wainwrights too

The house is situated in a beautiful location in a lovely valley, with fewer tourists than the Eastern part. Great walking from the house with no need to drive. The house is full of character and history, furnished beautifully in keeping with its age. The kitchen was extremely well stocked, with everything you could need for a long stay. As two families who were visiting for the second time, we all enjoyed our time at Dalegarth. There is enough space for everyone to choose to be together or take some alone time if they need it. The renovated bathrooms were a bonus this time. The living room could feel a bit on the cool side if the evenings were miserable outside. A more efficient rRead moreadiator would help. Other than that, the house is just as we remembered it - fantastic. Hide

Dalegarth Hall is a beautiful, historic property in a breathtaking location. You can walk around the spectacular Eskdale Valley, hike up the local fells or visit local attractions such as Muncaster Castle. If you don't want to cook, the food at the two local pubs is quite good, especially the Brook House Inn. Great location in a beautiful valley, beware of the AGA as it is temperamental.
