Set in large private gardens, this charming cottage boasts a generous living room with an open fire to relax beside after a long day at the beach, or you can unwind in the spacious conservatory with traditional wood burner watching a family film. At the bottom of the garden is a Swedish hut with TV and games, perfect for teenage guests to enjoy their own space. Broughty Ferry has a host of shops, pubs and restaurants to suit the whole family. Visit the 15th-century castle that is now home to an informative museum full of interesting exhibits. Stroll along the shoreline spotting seabirds and seals or spread out your blankets for a picnic on the long sandy beach.

 

Step through the front door into the spacious hallway where there is plenty of room to remove outdoor boots and clothing. The compact but well-designed kitchen has plenty of cupboard space to store provisions and comes equipped with an AGA stove for cooking hearty family meals. Plan your day’s activities around the large breakfast table. After a long day of exploration, sink into one of the comfortable lounge sofas in front of the roaring open fire: for quieter moments there’s a cosy snug with plump sofa. Dine in the bright and airy dining room with triple-aspect windows overlooking the garden. Sip a glass of wine in the large conservatory as the flames flicker in the wood burner. Heading to the first floor there are three restful bedrooms and a family bedroom can be found on the second floor. Venturing outside, the cottage is surrounded by a large enclosed garden with mature trees and pretty borders. There is plenty of seating for al fresco drinks as well as an outdoor bar and private hot tub. The luxurious Swedish hut is dressed in indulgent throws and cushions and comes with a TV providing a sanctuary for teenage guests. There is ample parking at the property.

Head to the waterfront and be inspired at the V&A Dundee, the first design museum to be built in the UK outside of London. Step back in time at RRS Discovery and Discovery Point, walking on the fully restored ship and finding out how the crew survived being trapped in the Antarctic ice. Play a round at the world-famous golf course at Carnoustie (9 miles) or head to the pretty harbour town of Arbroath (12.5 miles) to sample some of the local delicacy – the Arbroath Smokie.

Wow Cromlix is an outstanding house! And it exceeded our expectations. Fabulous facilities for friends or family. Lots of comfortable rooms to suit any occasion, very comfy beds! The kitchen had everything you could possibly need. The Hot Tub added a touch of luxury and garden furniture was perfect to enjoy an afternoon sitting in the sun. Perfect set up for families and friends. Garden is excellent and was well used even for time of year. Plenty lounge space. 5 minute walk to beach and 20 minutes into town. Plenty play parks in walking distance. Owners very welcoming and the house is very well set up. Cant wait to return!

What a fantastic house. Stayed for a week to celebrate belated family birthdays and we had a fabulous time. The house is a home first and foremost with everything you need, hot tub, bbq, fireplace, games, lovely enclosed garden. The Scandinavian chalet was particularly enjoyed by us all - smart tv and log burner keeps you happy and cosy. The ownersRead more are helpful and friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Cromlix is a lovely house, with a beautiful garden. Jenny and Scott are wonderful hosts and provide everything needed for a relaxing and comfortable break. We really enjoyed our stay at Cromlix. The house was spacious, spotless and in a great location near the town and beach. Jenny was very helpful both before and during our stay which made for a relaxing break. The house was a real home from home and definitely one of the best equipped we have stayed in. We had the best 4 days away, the house was amazing! We all loved it. The owners have literally thought of everything. We really didnt want to leave. Our son would happily have stayed in the hobbit house the whole time. I know this sounds crazy but for once there was actually loads of hangers in the wardrobe! There was even GHD straighteners and haiRead morerdryers (unfortunately I wear a wig but previously I would have been delighted with that) We all just felt so at home in the house. Fabulous! Hide

Stunning place yet very easy to be comfortable in.everthing you could need is provided here. We were 3 generations together (late70s to early 20s ) but with so much space was great. Can walk to beach as very close or short drives to many places fantastic location! Met by Jenny who is lovely ,hope to be back

Hosts couldn't do enough to make us feel very welcome. Property itself is immaculate and the garden is large enough to hold various activities. Enough space for all to find a quiet area for contemplation.
