The lively city of Dundee is home to several museums and galleries, including Discovery Point, the MacManus, Science Museum and close by to the V&A. Golf lovers may want to pay a visit to nearby Carnoustie, or you could head further along the coast to pretty Arbroath to enjoy a stroll around the picturesque harbour and try out some Arbroath Smokie – the local smoked haddock speciality. Take in the splendour of the beautiful, turreted Glamis Castle, the childhood home of the Queen Mother, and enjoy a meander around the attractive gardens.

Upon entering this welcoming property, you arrive in the hallway which leads to the large, comfortable lounge where you can sink back into one of the two large sofas and relax with a drink in front of the open fire or watch TV. The lounge opens directly into the superbly light dining area, which, with windows on all three sides is a lovely spot to enjoy a relaxed meal, with pleasant views out onto the lawned garden. Next door, the traditional, compact kitchen is well-equipped and also has a handy breakfast table. The extremely cosy snug, with a large squashy sofa is the perfect spot for a bit of peace and quiet with the newspaper or a good book. The conservatory is a superb room to get together in, with plenty of seating and a large TV for a family film night, and it opens directly onto the pretty patio. Heading upstairs you come to three gorgeous bedrooms. The pretty double bedroom benefits from a smart en-suite with bath and also a large private balcony where you can sit with a morning coffee and enjoy the view across the lush garden below. The comfortable super king-size bedroom, with its gothic wrought-iron bed has an en-suite shower room, and finally the pretty twin room is ideal for younger family members to share. Heading up to the top floor, you’ll find the super-stylish family room, with a double bed, sofa bed and cot.

Outside, the glorious garden is edged by mature trees and borders and has several seating areas dotted around, as well as an outdoor bar, and there is a luxurious Swedish hut at the far end of the garden with a TV and games – perfect for teenagers who will appreciate having their own space.

Hosts couldn't do enough to make us feel very welcome. Property itself is immaculate and the garden is large enough to hold various activities. Enough space for all to find a quiet area for contemplation.

Cromlix is spectacular and Broughty Ferry was perfect for our family staycation. The pics don't it justice - the house is a joy and the garden is out of this world - it's MASSIVE and full of things to do, places to sit, chill, etc. Jenny couldn't have been more helpful - from sorting out the booking mixup with Holiday Cottages herself, to prepping Read morea SPOTLESS house and being on the end of a phone if we needed anything. Honestly, blown away by the place and would go back in a heartbeat. Thank you Hide

This is an ideal place for a family get together; beautifully furnished, warm and well equipped. It is located on a main road but that didn't bother us as we spent much of our time outside, even though it was Christmas! The garden is very big and the log cabin is a special feature. We also hired a hot tub that was well worth it and was used a lot aRead morelong with the fire pit. There is a local beach just 5 minutes walk away. Hide
