Sleeping eight people over four bedrooms and welcoming two canine companions, it’s the ideal retreat for a large family that wants to relax and reconnect by the sea, or a group of friends looking for the perfect place to celebrate a special occasion in style. Spend your days exploring the natural splendour of the North York Moors National Park, and your evenings gathered together on the property’s wonderful patio.

Step inside and head through to the sleek and stylish kitchen/dining area. There’s plenty of room for you to cook up a feast for all of your nearest and dearest, and there’ll be absolutely no problem fitting everyone around the large captain’s table for a sociable dinner. Alternatively, head outside and strike up the BBQ on the enclosed patio. There’s ample outdoor seating so you can all dine together in the warm evening air. Wash down your dinner with a glass of something cool and crisp on the patio while the kids or canine companions in your party play on the lawn. The entire patio and lawn area is enclosed, so they can safely run off any excess energy. Later, retire to the large, homely living room and slip onto a sofa to watch your favourite TV shows. If it’s a warm summer evening, open the door to the garden and allow all of that wonderful fresh sea air to flow inside. At the end of the day head upstairs and you’ll find four delightful bedrooms to choose from.

Lose yourself in the cobbled lanes, quirky cafes and artsy boutiques in Whitby (1.5 miles). Treat yourself to some fish and chips, or push out the boat and indulge in a plate of the locally-caught crab and lobster. Explore the town’s connection with Bram Stoker’s Dracula by climbing the 199 steps on the town’s East Cliff. At the top you’ll find the famous Abbey Ruins, which are featured in Stoker’s novel. When the sun goes down, get the gang together for a spot of stargazing, because the North York Moors National Park is a designated International Dark Sky Reserve. In the town or city, you may only spot a handful of stars, but in the national park you can spy up to 2,000 at any one time. Danby (12 miles) is one of the national park’s Dark Sky Discovery Sites – and the Milky Way is often visible from there with the naked eye.

Good base location, 0.9 m from Whitby West Cliff. Great for family holiday get-togethers. Kitchen/diner has all mod cons & is a good size. Comfy super king bed in ensuite & comfy bunk beds. Quick dog walks round the corner in castle grounds or small park opposite castle entrance in side road, both handy before visits out. Close by is Lidls & a largRead moree Spar shop at the Shell garage for supplies. Accessibility: Taller & or less mobile people might find the lounge seating and toilets too low down. Hide

Recently returned from 3 days at Captains House. We all had a brilliant time. Contact with the owner was great and she was very helpful. The house was lovely with the furniture and fittings all being top class, we ate in most of the time and there was everything you needed to do a full Sunday lunch. The decor too was lovely . Our son and daughter iRead moren law even ordered the chair and footstool for their dining room at home. The garden was perfect for a dog and 2 year old but looked good too. Hide

Very noisy due to location so close to the current building works. Lovely house and great welcome pack bur over priced whilst so close to a building site

Lovely spacious new build property, very well equipped with a pleasant outside space. Whitby itself was a great place with lots to explore and a beautiful beach.

A lovely house in a good location on the edge of Whitby with all the home comforts at hand. Many great attractions nearby or a short drive and enough to keep us occupied for a week. Sneaton Castle (next door) is a great place for lunch in very plush decor and beautiful grounds. Lovely family sized house, well situated and safe enclosed garden for children and dogs. Extremely well equipped and decorated. Nice comfy beds and pillows. The owners have put a lot of thought and effort into making sure everything required is available. Would definitely stay again.
