Looking out across the idyllic River Lochy and to the heights of Ben Nevis, this beautifully renovated holiday retreat is perfect for family gatherings or friends'' getaways in the Scottish Highlands.

Set in a stunning location on the banks of the River Lochy with far-reaching views across to Ben Nevis, this historic seven-bedroom fishing lodge is the ideal destination for a memorable family holiday, special occasion or reunion. Built in 1870 and once host to the Prince of Wales and Wallis Simpson, this rural retreat has elegantly furnished rooms decorated in neutral tones with large bay windows filling the spaces with natural light. Four large reception rooms feature open fires creating a warm and welcoming environment whether you are enjoying a delicious dinner in the formal dining room or playing competitive card games in the drawing room. Wander through the garden for a riverbank picnic or spend your day exploring the lodge’s five acres of grounds and farmland. Hop in the saddle and follow the cycle path to Fort William (4 miles), the ‘outdoor capital of the UK’ where you can try one of the many water sports on offer, hike the spectacular landscape or enjoy a relaxing boat trip along the Caledonian Canal.

Surrounded by tall trees and set against a backdrop of the Nevis range, there is a sense of peace and tranquillity from the moment you step out of your car door. Enter into the conservatory porch where you will find a large heated drying cupboard and plenty of hanging space for outdoor clothing. After a day of exploration and adventures you have a choice of welcoming reception rooms to relax in. The delightful drawing room provides the perfect backdrop for an evening of conversation curled in the comfy sofas in front of a roaring fire. The second sitting room is ideal for board games or charades in front of the fire and the charming morning room offers a haven for guests seeking a quiet spot to sit and read as the fire crackles. Plan your days over breakfast at the large wooden kitchen table or rustle up tasty meals in the well-equipped kitchen to be shared at the mahogany dining table in the elegant dining room. Ascend the stairs leading to the first floor where you find the seven well-appointed bedrooms, all individually designed and featuring striking interiors and luxurious linens. The restful master bedroom boasts a Jacobean four-poster bed, views across the countryside and an indulgent en-suite bathroom. There are a further two spacious king-size bedrooms with en-suite bathrooms and four generous, bright and airy twin bedrooms. There are two contemporary family bathrooms on this floor. Venturing outside there are five acres of grounds to explore and paths leading to the riverbank for peaceful picnics. Dine out on the large paved terrace overlooking the river sharing sociable meals late into the night.

Beautiful large property which was perfect for our family of 10 aged 4-85. Bedrooms are lovely with comfy beds and great views. Location is superb with amazing views of Ben Nevis and close proximity to all the local attractions. Nice walks and biking from the house with deer, lambs and Highland cows all around. Parts of house a little tired, kitcheRead moren utensils could do with an update and patio needs a good tidy up but overall the house is great for a large group. Hide
