Divided into two barns, with enough communal space for all and plenty of privacy for when you need to step away. Set in the quiet hills beyond the towns of Brecon & Sennybridge, there are great days out to be had.

With great walking from the door, located just above the Brecon Beacons National Park, there's lots of choice. There are cycle routes too for both mountain bikes and road cyclists, with bike hire available in Brecon and Hay on Wye. There is a local soft play centre just outside Brecon, encase of a rainy day with under 8's and Brecon has a small independent cinema too. Sennybridge is the closest town, best for the basics, head to Brecon for a proper Welsh town, complete with Cathedral, Regimental museum, cinema and mountaineering shops. Hay on Wye is a favourite, with heaps of independent stores and cafes. Explore the popular Dan yr Ogof caves nearby, or Big Pit for a cultural adventure, both of which are a great family day out. Leisure facilities: private hot tub. Games room: with table tennis and pool table. Play facilities: children’s play frame.

The lower barn offers TWO bedrooms: 1 king-size with en-suite bath and WC and 1 twin, en-suite shower and WC. Lounge/kitchen/diner: with woodburner, TV and DVD. Kitchen area, with electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. The upper barn offers TWO bedrooms: 1 king-size, en-suite bath and WC. On the ground floor, 1 twin with en-suite shower and WC. Lounge: with woodburner, TV, DVD and access to the outside deck, on the first floor. Kitchen/diner: With electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine. Outside: terrace area to the side, with BBQ and outdoor furniture. Regret no smoking. DINING: A farmhouse dining table generously seating 8 in Lower Barn. Upper Barn has a table for 6 - 8, plus each barn has a farmhouse kitchen table.

KITCHEN: Two well equipped Shaker style kitchens with electric oven, induction hob, fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher, cafetiere.

KEEPING CLEAN: Four en-suite bathrooms, two with a bath and two with a shower. Washing machine in each barn. Iron and ironing board available.

OUTSIDE: The barn is detached, there is a large parking area and terrace area to the side, with barbeque, outdoor furniture, hot tub, childrens play frame and additional play area for older children with table tennis and a pool table.

CAR CHARGING : There are two 7KW ChargeMaster ports on site, available at an additional charge payable to the owner directly.

We had a warm welcome from the owner, she also left some lovely goodies. She explained everything clearly. We felt had we had any problems, we could approach her. We loved the cottage, it was well decorated,clean & tidy. It was well equipped throughout,even down to child toilet seats .

Pretty valley, with good weather you could happily just stay on the deck. Plenty of space in the property, easy access to the hills. Narrow country lanes to approach the only drawback, for some, although generally quiet in practice.

Overall we had a great time at the Bull Pens. The buildings and surrounding area are beautiful and secluded. Our host Fiona was helpful and welcoming and showed us how to use the hot tub. Pretty much everything we needed was provided with only a couple of small issues, there was no showers in the two double bedrooms, only in the twins and we couldnRead more't find any extra toilet roll in any of the bathrooms so the supply was quite limited. Overall though I would definitely recommend! Hide
