This spacious Victorian property is located close to the centre of Hay-on-Wye – a charming market town that boasts a number of independent bookshops, boutiques, pubs and cafes. It's ideal for an unforgettable group holiday.

Located less than half a mile from the centre of Hay-on-Wye, this charming property is the ideal hideaway for a family or group of friends looking for a getaway to celebrate something special. With four bedrooms, two lounges, two dining areas and a wonderful, enclosed garden, there’s plenty of space for eight guests to find their own spot and it makes the property ideal for different guest make-ups. When you’ve had a peaceful day wandering around the town, head out to Celtic Canoes (5.5 miles) to spend the next day on the water in a 5 or 10-mile trip.

 

Leave muddy hiking boots in the original quarry tiled entrance porch before heading into one of the lounges. The first has been decorated in peaceful neutral tones and has a stunning feature fireplace, so is ideal for getting together for a chat or watching your favourite film on TV. The second lounge is the perfect place to escape to when you need your own space; the tiled floor and warm-coloured furnishings make it easy to curl up with a book and relax. The contemporary kitchen has everything you need including a large electric range oven making mealtimes easy, and the dining room is the best spot for eating and enjoying views over the hills. Enjoy al fresco drinks in the garden on the patio or sizzle up a BBQ in the warmer months; the children will love running around on the lawn or chilling out on one of the picnic benches. Upstairs, the four bedrooms lend a boutique feel to your stay; wake up among soft, tranquil decor with pastel touches and grab an invigorating shower in the waterfall shower in the main bathroom.

Head off to the Llangorse Multi Activity Centre (13.5 miles) to try your hand at abseiling, zip-lining and more, or go for a leisurely group walk along one of the trails that start from the car park. Animal lovers of all ages will have a brilliant time on a llama trek at Old King Street Farm (18 miles), while the Small Breeds Farm Park (13 miles) is perfect for younger children. While you’re so close to the Brecon Beacons National Park, you’ve got to tackle some walks there – conquer Hay Bluff straight from the front door (5.5 miles) or drive to the car park at the foot of the hill (4.5 miles).

The cottage is ideally situated in walking distance of the town centre. The cottage was very clean and tidy and had lots of utensils and dishes to enable us to cook proper meals . It had a lovely range cooker. The separate bath and shower rooms were excellent . Having a downstairs toilet was also an advantage. The garden was lovely to sit in .
