Nothing fancy but perfectly good for a base to sleep and explore the lakes. Great location but maybe book a shopping delivery as supermarkets are quite far away. We had a great holiday and holiday cottages were very helpful when i called them.

We genuinely love staying here, its home from home and extremely spacious and comfortable for 8 of us. The property is incredibly clean and the garden is very large and well kept. As mentioned an extra fridge and a tumble drier would make the stay perfect. The location is ideal, the walk into Hawkshead is lovely. We have stayed here on and off for Read moreten years now and are hoping to continue to do this. Hide

Cosy, warm and welcoming. Very dog friendly. Great for walks straight from the cottage. There were seven of us and 3 dogs and it still felt spacious. Would definitely visit again.

Overall the property was okay but would benefit from some tlc as it feels tired and had several broken items. The bathroom could do with a thorough clean and repaint and the window curtain needs replacing. Its not the easiest to find, we didnt see the second farm name mentioned on the directions. The cottage is bigger than it looks from the photos Read moreand it was kind that they put a Christmas tree up for us and left some nice treats and crackers. Hide

Absolutely perfect location for some great walks and local pubs and cafe for dinning out. Great shopping too. Lovely getting a bottle of milk delivered to the door each day, others items available too. And able to buy fresh eggs from the local farm just yards away.

Once again we loved our rural stay at Black Fell cottage. It's perfect for walking the hills and lake sides in the local area. It's comfortable and practical - self catering, hot water and log fires provide the perfect base we need. We'll be staying there again for sure.

The house although a little outdated is a very comfortable place to stay. It is set in a beautiful peaceful area that is great for mountain biking, cycling and walking. Fantastic garden to sit and relax in after an active day. Local shops a 5 minute drive away in Coniston with a nice reasonable priced fish and chip shop, or 10 minutes drive to AmblRead moreeside. The cottage is very nice. Plenty of room. We were 4 but plenty of room for 8 people except for only 1 bathroom and a 2nd WC which for 8 people would be tricky. They missed a trick, it would be fairly east to give the upstairs double an ensuite. The utility is great for washing and boots. Nice big kitchen. For some it may feel a bit dated but I likeRead mored the retro feel to it with floral curtains and dark furniture. WiFi works well too! Hide
