A large rural holiday home well away from the crowds, with plenty of space for one large family or two small families to share.

Located on a quiet road in a rural pocket of Dumfries and Galloway, this warm and welcoming property is surrounded by fields of grazing horses. Sleeping eight guests across four bedrooms, the accommodation is light and airy with a wood burner for cosy evenings, a sunny conservatory and a private garden. Set out on foot to explore the beautiful unspoilt countryside that surrounds this hamlet of farm cottages or jump in the car to reach the spectacular coast and nearby towns of Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright.

Inside, the property is beautiful and spacious, finished in fresh neutral decor with modern fittings and homely touches. Leave coats, bags and boots in the hall before continuing through to the fantastic family kitchen/diner. Oak units are topped with granite surfaces, which line the walls to provide plenty of surface and storage space, perfect for entertaining. There is also a separate utility room for storing wet clothes and laundry. Dine at the large table in the centre of this room before retreating to the spacious lounge. A wonderful room for spending quality time together as a family or party, the wood burner creates a cosy feel in winter and there is a Sky TV with DVD player for those relaxing evenings in. A small conservatory offers an alternative and peaceful space in which to unwind with a book in the afternoons while admiring the garden views beyond. Upstairs, there are four delightful bedrooms, each of which has been decorated in its own tasteful style. The bedrooms share a spacious family bathroom with overhead shower and a wonderful countryside view. Outside, a large patio area for al fresco dining leads to a fantastic enclosed lawn garden. From here, enjoy unobstructed views across paddocks, fields and open countryside before the night’s sky reveals why this is Scotland’s first Dark Sky Park.

Lovely comfortable farmhouse. We appreciated the dog exercise area and the dog secure garden as well being able to use the washer. The house was well equipped (one of the best we have been to) and the beds were comfortable. The farmhouse is located in a lovely area with access to good walks and sight seeing. Just come back from a Week stay at Bartaggart farmhouse . A group of 8 of us from 11 years old and four adults . We all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, and the cottage was off the beaten track as expected and surrounded by beautiful countryside . The cottage itself was lovely and the hosts friendly . I would go again .

The farmhouse is an ideal location for dog owners who wants to get away from it all but others may find its isolation and the long drives too much.

A spacious cottage with amazing views. The enclosed garden is perfect for children and dogs. Owners were helpful when needed but gave us our privacy. The area is beautiful. We had a lovely day in the Galloway Forest Country Park enjoying the Red Deer Range and the Wild Goat Park. ( A bag of carrots is a must?) Excellent place for a get away from it all holiday. Our 7 year old and 4 year old twins loved the donkeys and running around in the grassy garden.

We had a fantastic time. The owners were most welcoming, and offered early check in and late check out. The property was very well equipped, and there was tea/coffee/milk/bread to welcome us. There were enormously cute 2 donkeys (bring carrots :) just outside, and we enjoyed a local walk for 2 hrs, and drove 30 min to Kippford for a beach walk.
