Gaze for hours at the picturesque vistas of Lake Ullswater and its mountainous surroundings, take off on long walks or cycle rides through the countryside or just revel in being away together in this unique holiday home.

Set close to the Cumbrian village of Wreay, your striking stone property has been beautifully converted to offer exceptional living and sleeping space. Touches, such as the boot room, where you can kick muddy boots off and store your hiking gear, make this a comfortable and easy place to stay. The capacious central hall at the heart of the property doubles as a magnificent dining area, where you and your family and friends can sit down to lavish meals together on special occasions. Also make the most of your bright farmhouse kitchen – a few steps down – which is the perfect place to enjoy freshly made coffee and tasty English breakfasts straight from the Aga. Your impressive lounge, with its exquisite stone fireplace, provides ample space for everyone to congregate and watch TV or play a few games. Light the fire and simply enjoy being together. Head downstairs to discover another useful family room on the lower level. Here, in addition to the laundry room, there is a snug where children can watch TV or adults can find a little time to themselves away from the throng. Dine out in the fresh air to a backdrop of the scenic Lake District; soak up the sunshine on the terrace while the children explore the garden and play on the lawn.

Pack a picnic and head straight out on long walks from your rural holiday home. Make the 5-mile hike to Howtown along the edge of the lake and while you are there take a trip on the water by steamer. Head 5 miles in the other direction to walk through National Trust land, see the famous Aira Force waterfall and stop for some light refreshment. Spend the day in the town of Penrith, about 9.5 miles away, where there is a large 14th-century castle and a museum to visit, as well as lots of shops to browse in. Take the 3-mile walk from the town up to the top of Beacon Hill, where you can see right across the Eden Valley.

Bank Barn is simply one of the best holiday houses that we have ever stayed in. Located high above Ullswater with beautiful views across the lake the Barn is spacious, comfortable, and well-equipped and the interior decoration and furnishings are both interesting and functional. There is plenty to do locally with a water sports centre a couple of mRead moreiles away & its only a few minutes drive from the start of the best Hellvellyn walks. Overall, a terrific place to stay. Bank Barn is a very lovely house, situated in a beautiful area. The view from Bank Barn is amazing overlooking Ulswater. The house is kitted out to a high standard, with the bathrooms to a luxury standard. The kitchen is also well equipped to enable proper meals to be cooked. This is our fifth year staying at Bank Barn, and once again we had a wonderful holiday! This is an outstanding property, beautifully furnished and equipped and set in an amazing part of the world. We cannot recommend it highly enough.

This is a beautiful home in a fabulous location with a stunning view. The house was clean and spacious and every precaution, including gloves, plenty of hand sanitizer and cleaning cloths, had been taken to enable us to keep it that way. The rooms are welcoming and the kitchen is well-equipped. Supermarkets are a short drive away and we had numerouRead mores lovely walks and cycles on our doorstep. WOW ...... one of the best properties I have stayed in. Amazing location with views to die for. This property is five star and would not hesitate to recommend. Will be back later in the year it was that good.
