Set in an elevated position above Coniston, this attractive 17th-century barn conversion promises comfort and luxury touches for a group of eight guests. The village is a short stroll downhill (less than 0.5 miles), where welcoming country pubs and the Ruskin Museum provide plenty to enjoy. For hikers and mountain bikers, the footpath to the Old Man of Coniston (2.5 miles) passes the end of the lane, and the shores of Coniston Water are less than 1 mile away. Admire the tranquil scenery of this peaceful lake from the Steam Yacht Gondola (1 mile), or venture across the water to Brantwood (2.5 miles), John Ruskin's former home and now a fascinating centre for arts and exhibitions. Further beauty spots include Tarn Hows (3 miles), Banishead Quarry (1.5 miles), and Cathedral Cavern (4 miles) – all rewarding destinations for a scenic hike.

The neutral decor of this two-storey property beautifully complements its natural surroundings and original features, creating a peaceful place to unwind. The reverse-level layout places two of the four bedrooms on the ground floor. Step inside to find a double and a twin bedroom, along with a bathroom featuring both a separate bath and shower. Upstairs, two further bedrooms and an additional family bathroom await. These bedrooms are arranged as a twin and a double, with the larger double benefiting from an en-suite shower room for added privacy. Also on the first floor is the heart of the home: a spacious open-plan living area with lounge, kitchen, and dining spaces set beneath high ceilings with original beams. Designed for sociable living, this inviting space offers ample comfortable seating for dining and relaxing into the evening, a full range of kitchen appliances, and entertainment in the form of a Smart TV and iPod docking station. A wood burner adds warmth and atmosphere on cooler days, while patio doors open onto the garden during the summer months. A utility room with laundry facilities completes this floor, adding extra convenience.

Enclosed, mature gardens surround the rear of the property, providing plenty of space for children and pets to play when the sun is shining. Outdoor furniture is on hand for al fresco dining on warm afternoons. At the front of the property, a spacious driveway provides parking for up to four cars.

the house was a great size for an extended family of 8. Very well equipped, even down to pint glasses, which is rare in a holiday let! Very well positioned, short walk into Coniston village. Would stay again.

Another fantastic stay at The Barn!

We had a fantastic time in the Lake District and the house was perfect the only thing that let it down was that the garden is not secure to let the dogs out which was a shame, apart from that it was perfect. The location was brilliant and the house was very homely and warm.

We came to stay for my dad's 60th and have a lovely time. The location is fabulous and we were greeted with a bottle of fix and some chutneys which was a lovely touch. The fireplace was a huge feature, we loved our stay and would come again!
