Experience an unforgettable stay in the Lake District National Park, creating lasting memories with your nearest and dearest from this exceptionally converted farmhouse. Accessed via a narrow, bumpy track that winds through a working farm, this property enjoys a wonderfully remote setting. You're just 1 mile from the beloved village of Hawkshead, home to a traditional country pub, the Beatrix Potter Gallery, and William Wordsworth's former school. A little further afield, Esthwaite Water (2 miles) offers a peaceful destination for scenic walks and water-based activities. Adventure awaits in nearby Grizedale Forest (4 miles), renowned for its mountain biking trails, towering woodland, and abundant wildlife, or head to Coniston Water (3 miles), one of the national park's most popular lakes. On the eastern shore, the Old Man of Coniston (6.5 miles) provides a rewarding hiking route, offering incredible summit views across historic mining ruins, pretty tarns, and classic Lake District scenery.

Original character paired with superb styling makes this Lake District home a truly impressive holiday retreat. Step inside via the entrance hall, where coats and boots can be neatly stored after a day outdoors. From here, enter the spacious open-plan living area set beneath handsome exposed beams. In the lounge, an inglenook fireplace houses an original Esse wood burner – a warming focal point that also doubles as a cooking facility. Relax on comfortable sofas, with the Smart TV providing evening entertainment as the fire glows beside you. Adjacent to this, the dining area features a large farmhouse-style table with bench seating, perfect for sociable mealtimes together. The modern kitchen showcases bespoke cabinetry and granite worktops, fully equipped for catering to larger groups, including a double oven. Just off this space, a practical boot room provides additional storage for outdoor gear. Upstairs, four spacious and inviting bedrooms await. The first is a king-size room with en-suite facilities and a quirky laundry area connected to the bathroom. A second king-size bedroom features its own wood burner and patio doors opening onto the garden. The remaining rooms comprise a comfortable double and a family bedroom with one double and one single bed. These rooms share a bright family bathroom finished with modern tiling and spot lighting.

Make the most of the property's peaceful rural setting by spending time outdoors in the generous garden. The expansive lawn and patio area feature an ancient oak tree set just beyond the grassy bank. Rattan dining furniture provides the perfect spot for al fresco meals, while the lawn offers ample space for ball games or exercising pets. Private parking for up to four cars is available on the sloping driveway.

The cottage is in an excellent location but in a peaceful setting. It is well equipped and very comfortable. The garden is great for families.

The house was great , the building site in front of garden which we knew nothing of and the access track both detract from a perfect stay

Cottage was spacious enough for our party of 5 adults, 2 children, a baby and 2 dogs. Excellent living space, lovely kitchen, and doors out to the garden. Bedrooms were all very nice. High quality furnishing throughout. Off the beaten track, and a 5 minute drive to Hawkshead for supplies from the Coop, 10 mins to Ambleside. Access from the road is Read morefirst via a bumpy track and then a short steep track to the parking area. We were in SUVs so no problem, but wouldn't fancy it in a standard car. Hide

Had a great stay. Lovely outside space. Some narrow lanes to navigate .. and uneven track up to property .. but worth it. Would definitely recommend.
