Perfectly designed for multi-generational families or large groups of friends, this handsome holiday retreat is wonderfully inviting and makes an excellent base for exploring the Lake District. From both Bowness (2.5 miles) and Ambleside (3.5 miles), you can glide over the waters of Lake Windermere on a scenic cruise, hire your own boat, or take a ferry to the other side for delightful walks. For a rewarding hike from your doorstep, head up to the renowned walker's pub, The Mortal Man, 2.5 miles away, for lunch overlooking the valley of Troutbeck. In Ambleside, you'll find an array of shops and dining options to explore, and the market town of Kendal is only 9.5 miles away. Zip World Windermere and the adventure playground at Brockhole are both only a mile away, and for little ones, the World of Beatrix Potter attraction is 2.5 miles away.

Create special memories in this delightful retreat, where elegant original features combine with a modern/country style. From the hall, where you can leave all your walking gear, step into the delightful open-plan living area. Here, a wood burner in a stone fireplace creates a warming focal point. Soft seating all around gives you a cosy space to snuggle up in with a good book, a board game from the family games cupboard, or a movie on the Smart TV. The light-filled, vaulted dining area overlooks the garden, with a large table and bench seating, ideal for relaxed breakfasts and evening feasts – a well-deserved reward after a day of walking. Stroll through to the kitchen and you'll find a beautiful array of cabinets and open shelves, with a butler's sink and a range-style cooker – together with all the mod cons necessary for creating gourmet delights. The ground-floor bedroom suite comes complete with a double bed, sofa, and en-suite wet room with WC, forming a private retreat for anyone with access needs. Off the hallway, there's also a convenient separate WC. Upstairs, there are three handsomely furnished bedrooms, one with an en-suite and TV, and the others sharing a bright family bathroom with a shower over the bath.

The accessible garden leads off the patio doors in the dining area. This charming, paved space is surrounded by hedges and shrubs, and features a dining set ready for you to enjoy the fresh air with an al fresco meal or a drink. Adding to the convenience of this impressive destination, parking is available at the front of the cottage for one vehicle, with further on-street parking close by (subject to availability).

One behalf of the Peters family I want to thank you for all your help in facilitating a most enjoyable week at Infield House over Christmas. We had a fabulous time and were very impressed with the service from Lakeland Retreats. The booking process was smooth and professional (and much better value than Air BnB or Booking.com!). It was lovely to meRead moreet Tina on the first day. It is so rare for any rep to check in with visitors at properties these days and this was a welcome visit. We had a fantastic week at the property in an area that is well known to us (Dad taught at the Lakes School and I was born in the property across the road!). You were exceptionally quick at resolving the boiler issue when we lost hot water for a few hours. The property itself met all our needs and was lovely. You might need to ask the owners to check whether the ventilation fans in some of the showers are working correctly to avoid any potential humidity/damp issues, but this did not impact our stay at all (just wanted to let you know it might be a potential defect). I will certainly look to rebook with Lakeland Retreats in the future. I was very impressed with the engagement and level of service throughout our stay. Thanks to all the team for making this a great stay and lovely family Christmas. Happy New Year to you all and best wishes for the future. Hide
