The cottage is named after one of the town's best-loved landmarks, the picturesque Bridge House, just a stone's throw away (100 metres). From here, admire pretty views along the banks of the River Rothay, wander up to Stock Ghyll Force (1 mile) on the outskirts of town, or continue to Wansfell Pike (2 miles) for elevated views. Within the town itself, you'll find an independent cinema, an indoor climbing wall, an abundance of shops and pubs, and plenty of activity centres offering equipment hire and guided experiences, including water sports on the mighty Lake Windermere (1 mile). The lake is perfect for sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding or wild swimming, as well as leisurely wildlife-spotting walks along its spectacular shoreline.

Great location right in the heart of the town. Well equipped and has had some improvements this year with new furniture and equipment. Plenty of room for 8 adults. We have stayed here for the last 4 years and will be back.

Spacious modern home but with real character in a great location. Well equipped kitchen and living area with lots of space - bedrooms really clean and comfortable and loved having all the bathrooms. Superb house.

Great location with all amenities and beautiful walks right on the door step. Included parking permits were very handy too. Layout of the house was perfect for 2 families including kids and dog.

I have been to Ambleside many times over the years and this has to be the best location we have stayed in. The house is great, clean, well- equipped, warm. I actually think some of the reviews on here are a little harsh. The kitchen needs some basic updates but it had everything we needed. We will definitely be rebooking in the future.

All the amenities you could need. Right in the middle of town so ideal for easy access to everything. The best beds and fab showers. The all important plugs near mirrors. Great open space downstairs allowing the group to stay together if cooking, playing games and relaxing all at the same time. Great memories
