Discover stylish stores, a lively arts scene and fine dining in the beautiful market town of Ruthin (2 miles) or visit Denbigh (6.5 miles) which overlooks the Vale of Clwyd and has more listed buildings than any other town in Wales. The remains of ancient Denbigh Castle dominate the skyline of the town; don’t miss its ingenious Salley port – dark, with a hair-pin bend, narrow portcullis and two ‘murder holes’, it was a secret doorway for those guarding against unwanted visitors. Further north, the fun-filled seaside town of Rhyl (17 miles) is unmissable if you fancy a day on the beach, the breeze in your hair and an ice cream in your hand. Prestatyn (20 miles) is just along the coast; its beach marks the beginning of the Offa's Dyke National Trail, which runs south to Chepstow marking the boundary between Wales and England.
