The fringe of Galloway Forest Park is just 11 miles to the east, with opportunities for activities including fishing, walking, cycling and wildlife spotting. Heading west, the bustling coastal town of Girvan (3.5 miles) has two golf courses, some fantastic places to eat and drink, and a lovely sandy beach.
