  • Set in gorgeous private gardens with a unique Arctic cabin and children’s playground
  • Ideal location to visit Oxford and picturesque towns and villages across the Cotswolds
Property code: 89925

This gorgeous period property sits on 0.5 acres of grounds in the village of Stonesfield, just 4.5 miles from Blenheim Palace, the birthplace of Sir Winston Churchill. Sleeping 11 guests in five bedrooms, including one on its ground floor, the dog-friendly cottage is ideal for multigenerational families or groups of friends seeking rural tranquillity but easy access to popular Cotswolds attractions. Every need of the modern guest is met, whether they are in the characterful farmhouse kitchen, spacious lounge or oak-framed dining room, with plenty of outside space for smaller guests to play in.

Finished to a high standard throughout, the property enjoys a blend of modern furnishings and original features, including exposed stone walls and wooden beams, particularly on the first floor. Enter via the dining room, a beautifully lit area enjoying lovely garden views. A farmhouse kitchen stands next door, perfect for creating indulgent meals and returning there for seconds when no one is looking. The utility room next to the kitchen will be a godsend when contending with mucky paws and sodden clothes. If batteries need recharging mid-afternoon, curl up on the sofa bed in the snug room for 40 winks, or have an hour with a good book in front of the wood burner. The main lounge, a welcoming space complete with comfortable sofas, is the ideal venue to watch a film in the evening. Older guests will appreciate the light and airy double bedroom on the ground floor, which comes complete with a wood burner and easy access to the garden. Head up the large oak staircase to the first floor and find four further bedrooms: an en-suite super-king-size bedroom, an en-suite king-size bedroom, an en-suite bunkroom - perfect for youngsters, and a twin bedroom. The beautifully planted garden is home to a unique Arctic Cabin BBQ hut, a welcoming space decorated in a Scandinavian theme, and the perfect place to enjoy an al fresco family meal.

A quiet, wonderfully equipped cottage for large groups. Quirky layout gives choices of use and the bedrooms are spacious and comfortable. The kitchen has everything one might need and the addition of the Arctic Cabin for indoor barbecuing is a great asset. Nearby Woodstock is a lovely town to visit, along with Daylesford and the Cotswold villages. Read moreThe beautiful garden offers choices of outside seating in the summer. Highly recommend! Hide

The cottage is ideal for a group of adults or older children. The setting is stunning with wildlife on your door step. The cottage is full of character e.g steps and therefore is not very disability friendly for those with mobility issues. The host was on hand if we needed her.

Hollyhock House was a wonderful place to stay. We had a family weekend there for my mum's 90th birthday. The cottage was comfortable, very well equipped and everything was of a high standard, especially the linen. Very nicely decorated and thought out. Would stay there again anytime. Hosts were very helpful and informative.
