Stay in a cosy bungalow in the heart of Devon, surrounded by countryside and wildlife. You and up to seven other guests can stay in this wooden-cladded cottage with a large, enclosed garden. After a long day exploring the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (5 miles) or walking along the canal and visiting the shops in the popular town of Tiverton (9 miles), return to this property for more quality time with your loved ones. Cook up a banquet in the spacious kitchen with an island and tuck in at the dining table in the open-plan lounge/diner, or sit outside and enjoy your meal alfresco while admiring the views of the surrounding fields and mature trees.

Climb five steps to reach the front door of the property. Step inside and find yourself in a convenient utility area which also contains a separate WC. Continue into the spacious neutral-toned kitchen with a breakfast bar on the kitchen island. Across from here is the sociable open-plan lounge/diner. There are separating doors which can be closed to create a cosier feel in the lounge with two large sofas and armchairs next to a Smart TV for enjoying a film together. The dining area has a large oak table with seating for eight. Down the hallway to the right is a king-size bedroom with an en-suite containing a shower and WC. Inside the family bathroom is a bath, shower and WC. At the far end of the property are three more bedrooms – a double with an en-suite, a king-size with a walk-in wardrobe and an en-suite, and a twin zip-and-link which can be made up into a super-king-size on request. Outside is a generous enclosed garden with decking, garden furniture and a lawned area.

Situated along a quiet country lane near the quiet village of Sampford Peverell (1 mile), this property benefits from rural and tranquil surroundings. In the village are one dog-friendly pub and a golf course. The town of Tiverton (9 miles) is home to a 12th-century castle, canal, museum and plenty of shops and restaurants. On its outskirts is the 19th-century National Trust Knightshayes Court and Gardens (10 miles) which is a gothic Victorian country mansion where you can explore the well-manicured gardens, enjoy woodland walks and explore the interiors designed by William Burges. In the opposite direction is the Blackdown Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (5 miles) which is filled with forests, farmland, rivers and streams. As well as heading off on a hiking adventure, you could also visit the historic landmarks of Culmstock Beacon (7.5 miles) or Wellington Monument (10.5 miles).

This is an extremely roomy, warm, comfortable and well equipped property, ideal for exploring the local area and easy access to the station for a train to Exeter. The six of us (seniors) who stayed there all thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend pre-Christmas get together with the decorations making it very festive. Wow! What a beautiful place to stay. Such a lovely welcome from the host who showed us round the amazing East Barn. I would happily move in if I could. The kitchen has everything you could possibly need and more, the bedrooms are spacious and beautifully furnished. We had a wonderful holiday at East Barn. Clean, spacious and equipped with everything you could need for your stay. A generous welcome pack on arrival and Peter (owner) was very friendly and informative. The surrounding area is lovely and well situated for exploring. A fabulous property, immaculately clean, very spacious and possibly the best equipped holiday rental we have stayed in! We were welcomed by fresh flowers, fruit and a bottle of fizz pre-chilled in the fridge. Peter, the owner, was super friendly on arrival and throughout our stay. Peter, the owner couldnt have been more welcoming. A lovely start from him and his wife Janet with basics in the cupboards, fresh flowers and a nice bottle of Asti in the fridge. East Barn is very spacious with everything to hand, extremely clean and well looked after. The location a couple of miles from the M5 makes everything accessible. Great property. Spotless, very well equipped kitchen, incredibly comfortable beds, great space. Spent new year here with my husband, 4 other couples and 2 dogs. Plenty of room, great area for walks with the dogs. Walked to the local pub for lunch one day which was great. Would definitely recommend this property and definitely visit again.
