Would highly recommend this property for a country escape. Everyone who came along with us was delighted and highly impressed with the location and property, including the children who took great delight in hunting chocolate bunnies in the woods within the grounds.

This house is the most beautiful one we have stayed in the lakes. Its a grand arts and crafts pile with a wealth of original features. Very clean, sumptuous beds and linen, very well equipped. We look forward to our next trip in 2 years time.

Daweswood is a beautiful, warm house with plenty of room and hot water, and generally very well equipped. The location at the southern end of Ullswater is perfect for exploring the north Lakes, with several walks from the property. The lighting levels are too low so I would advise caution, particularly for less mobile visitors. Make sure you have iRead morendoor entertainment for younger children, because safe outdoor space is very limited, although the woods are great fun for exploring. Hide

Great location, great grounds but the house feels neglected, dark, dingey. Take your own glasses unless you are happy with plastic. You may need a torch to see indoors. We had to move furniture to different rooms to allow 6 of us to sit together.

Great location for hill walking and for shopping and pubs. Interesting house with all original design features but house is very very dark and trees up right up to the house so no sunny spots outside. Accommodates 10 easily although cant really all sit around in one sitting room.

Beautiful location and a totally unique property. Maintenance was needed on a few areas within the property and it should be better equipped, no coffee maker of any description. Easy access to Beautiful walks and we had a fantastic 3 day stay with blue skies.

Daweswood is a stunning let in a beautiful location. Incredibly spacious for two large families with spacious and fenced grounds. The Arts and Crafts features are lovely and the double aspect master bedroom with en suite roll tap bathroom is well worth nabbing! You can step out directly onto the fell or walk directly to Helvelynn, Hartsop Dodd, HigRead moreh Street, Angle Tarn, the steamer at Glenridding... Just perfection. Absolutely amazing house. Stayed with a bunch of old school friends and had a great time. Brilliant location for walks from the door. Great food, drink and hospitality at the White Lion pub in the village. Even spotted a glimpse of a Red Squirrel in the garden. Hope to return next year.
