Once a manor house, and with a history reaching right back to the 11th century, the four-bedroom property presents a wealth of historic features, as well as offering plenty of space for a large family or a party of friends. Sleeping eight guests, plus a pair of canine companions, the gorgeous country home sits in beautiful, English country gardens, and is set against a spectacular Lakeland backdrop. Plan days out to the magnificent lakes of Wastwater and Coniston Water and even make your way to the coast at Ravenglass, about 6.5 miles away.
Stroll in via the porch and back door, past a utility room, with an additional freezer. Step up to discover the spacious kitchen/diner, where you can prepare delicious holiday meals for your friends and family using the produce you have shopped for. Find you also have a pantry, additional utility space and ground-floor WC. There is also a comfortable seating area, where you can relax in front of TV while supper sizzles. Lay the table in the magnificent dining room for special, celebratory meals. After dinner, wander through to the delightful lounge, with its revealed stone and timberwork, to spread out in comfort, fire up the wood burner and perhaps play a few games together. Members of your party could also pick out a few tunes on the piano or choose a film on TV or a DVD. Find you also have a study to do a little work in and a useful space for storing cycles and other gear. Climb the stairs to find a bunk bedroom on the first floor or head into the reception and hall, and make your way upstairs from there to discover a second lounge, plus a family bathroom. Take four steps up to an impressive king-size bedroom, with an antique, four-poster bed. Along the landing and down two more stairs are a twin room and family suite, with a double bed and adjoining bunk bedroom. There is also a family shower room. Make the most of the lovely garden, dine outside in fine weather and keep an eye on children near the pond. Find there is parking for four cars. The forecourt and the unmade approach are shared with a farm, which uses tractors.
