Step inside to find a welcoming hallway, along with a utility room, a stylish shower room and two of the four bedrooms – both of which are decorated in tasteful neutral colours with a few jaunty nods to the coastal location. Up on the first floor the superb living area, with a large, hi-spec kitchen, offers the perfect space for socialising. Relax on one of the comfy sofas where you can gaze at the sparkling water below or throw wide the balcony doors on warmer days. The adjacent dining room with its lounge area is perfect for families needing a bit of space. On the top floor, the light and airy master bedroom is a dream, with a large Juliet balcony window and a smart en-suite shower room. Next door the fourth bedroom has an en-suite bathroom perfect for a hot soak at the end of the day. At the rear of the property, leading from the kitchen is a delightful private garden with a decked area and a lawn, ideal for relaxing in the sun or enjoying a family meal alfresco. The lovely sands of Instow are just a short ferry ride across the estuary and the huge swathe of Westward Ho! (3 miles) is a few minutes’ drive in the car. Younger visitors will enjoy the soft sand and rock pools, and older children can try their hand at surfing. Enjoy a bracing family walk along the glorious South West Coast Path, or head up to Kipling Tors, a National Trust site on the edge of Appledore, which offers spectacular views of the coast. Take to the water on a fishing trip from nearby Bideford (3.5 miles), or experience a day trip to Lundy Island to see the island’s famous puffin colony. For a day of family fun for all ages, The Big Sheep (4 miles) has it in spades, with rollercoasters, tractor rides and train rides, as well as mountain boarding, high rope climbing and even an exciting water-based assault course.

We were a group of 6 adults and two dogs. Waterhayes was the perfect house for us, comfortable, clean, spacious and fabulous views. The location is really good. We hope to return.

Waterhays was a beautiful holiday home for two families to meet up and to spend quality time together. Ideally situated for the quay, the little ferry over to Instow and beyond, plus the typical quaint character and amenities that Appledore provides. The house had plenty of living and outdoor space for 7 adults plus a small dog, and with stunning vRead moreiews to wake up to every morning. What's not to like! Hide

Lovely house, well laid out and loved the views across the estuary. Appledore is a quaint place and we liked the fact it wasnt overly busy. Downside was garden is not secure for small dogs.
