Escape to the Yorkshire Dales National Park at this attractive 17th-century stone farmhouse, which boasts country walks, miles of unspoilt countryside, and a wealth of wildlife to discover on its doorstep. Tucked away down an uneven, private farm track, you will feel a world away from everyday life – although there is a traditional pub near by if you want to delve back in for a moment. The property comfortably sleeps eight across four traditional and homely bedrooms, while a games barn and snug room add extra space to relax and unwind, making it great for holidays with friends and big family getaways.

Decorated in a traditional style throughout, gorgeous flagstone floors in every room, an original stone staircase and beautiful exposed beams add to the country aesthetic. Put your feet up after a day of exploring in the lounge, which lies at the heart of the home, where the whole group can catch up around the open fire or even play a board game. For those wishing for something even quieter, retreat to the snug, where a wood burner and Smart TV await – perfect for a cosy evening in. White-washed walls make the farmhouse kitchen feel light and airy, while bespoke units, a solid wood worktop, and a stable door leading out to the yard add further charm. Enjoy a big group dinner and plan tomorrow's adventures in the dining room or step outside for an al fresco meal under the sheltered area in the garden, with the rolling hills providing a picturesque backdrop. After dinner, unwind and perhaps show off your competitive side across the yard in the games barn, where you will find a pool table, a table tennis table, and more. The four bedrooms are simply and delicately decorated with neutral tones and exposed floorboards, allowing the stunning traditional furniture and the breathtaking views to take centre stage. Off-road parking is available.

Set in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park near the hamlet of Horsehouse in beautiful Coverdale. Tucked away down a private track, it's the perfect place to escape and immerse yourself in some of the most stunning scenery in the UK. Walkers will be in heaven here, with so many routes available from the doorstep. There's an olde worlde pub close by to the house across a path and footbridge for that post-walk pint. And for something to eat a dining pub is also within walking distance.

Horsehouse is located on the road from Middleham village in Wensleydale to Kettlewell in Wharfedale. Middleham is one of Yorkshire's loveliest villages. Famous for its castle (once home to Richard III) it's also home to several race-horse trainers; you will see and hear the horses being lead through the village up to the gallops every day. And to top it off there is a lovely collection of pubs, cafes, restaurants and shops. We love it so much it features in our Top 10 Prettiest Yorkshire Villages.

There are charming tearooms if you fancy a treat at elevenses, and for dinner you can opt for pub grub at the Richard III traditional pub or perhaps some Italian food at the renowned White Swan. There's also a village store and a couple of bric-a-brac shops to mooch around. Just a few miles out of the village is the fantastic attraction The Forbidden Corner. Regularly voted the best family attraction in Yorkshire, it's also well worth a look even if there are no children in your party.

Just a little further on you'll find the charming market town of Leyburn. Leyburn is an archetypical slice of Dales market town life. You'll find traditional shops, pubs and cafes all gathered around the handsome town square, which hosts a busy market every Friday. Leyburn is also home to the biggest auction centre outside of London if you fancy picking up a bargain. The nearby historic town of Richmond is similar in many ways, and has a lovely setting along the River Swale.

There are lots of other pretty villages and stunning natural sights all within close range of Arundel Grange. Aysgarth Falls and Bolton Castle are just a few miles away and the gorgeous villages of West Burton, Askrigg and Kettlewell are within easy driving distance, so lots of choice for things to do if you want to get out and about. Zarihnas Tea House in Kettlewell and Coverdale Community Pub offer lovely little pit-stops. And when you need to refuel with something more substantial stop at one of the areas many excellent gastro pubs. Our favourites include the Wensleydale Heifer in West Witton and the Blue Lion at East Witton, all within a short drive of the cottage.

Remote and picturesque this cottage provides an amazing escape from the everyday world. Its tough access is fine if you take everything slowly and it is not too far from Malham, Fountains Abbey and other great sites.

A stunning cottage in a beautiful location with stunning views. Rural and peaceful, just what we wanted. The kitchen is well equipped and the cottage gas llenty of space for our party of six. Stairs are a little difficult for those with mobility issues but there is a handrail. Overall, a great stay.

Lovely location and typical farmhouse style accommodation, both spacious, charming and warm with underfloor heating to the stone floors and generously provisioned real firs to the lounge and snug. Massive dining room table for large families and the barn games room was very well used by us and made our stay.

We had a wonderful stay at the grange - so much more homely than many rentals tend to be - And possibly the most comfortable beds ever - of course that makes it harder to get up in the morning.
