A gorgeous Lakeland barn conversion in a breathtaking location by the shores of Coniston Water. Spacious and stylish this property is the perfect base for a memorable stay in the heart of the Lake District National Park

In a land far, far away, surrounded by the sublime mountains and fairytale fells of the Lake District, lies this delightful cottage that sleeps eight. Set among four other holiday properties on a small country estate, guests are offered access to the estate's private lakeshore and jetties on Coniston Water. Host your next get together in the same spellbinding location that inspired famous literary artists with its panoramic views and majestic mountain range.

This award-winning cottage should be appreciated above all else for its enchanting location; wake up to lake views and end the day watching a vibrant sunset light up the mountain peaks. Step in through the private patio garden entrance and find yourself in the large kitchen/dining space; a clean and contemporary room made for cooking up family favourites and sitting at the table for hours reminiscing and laughing. Wind down in the living room, curled up by the roaring wood burner, buried in blankets, and settle in for the evening with a film or classic board game; pop on the underfloor heating in the colder months for ultimate cosiness. When it's time to catch forty winks, there are two bedrooms on the ground floor to choose from; an attractive king-size and a snug bedroom with sloping ceiling and full-sized bunk beds that are suitable for adults as well as children. On the first floor is a charming twin bedroom, and then up in the attic is a dreamy double bedroom with a pitched ceiling. There are two WCs and two bathrooms, though we have no doubt there will be a rush to try out the whirlpool bath. Although the courtyard is shared with other cottages, to the rear is a beautiful walled garden featuring a pretty patio area and views out to the lake and mountains. Walk through the grounds and take the short track down to the lakeshore for a picnic or play in the water.

Coniston is a wonderful destination for a group break. Set in the very heart of the Lake District, it's a welcoming place with all the essential amenities and plenty of character. Explore the lake in style by hiring a canoe or motorboat from Coniston's Boating Centre (1.5 miles). Take on the Old Man of Coniston for a challenging hike, and you will be repaid with an awe-inspiring panorama. On the east shore of the lake is Grizedale Forest, an adventurous day out where you can cycle or stroll under a canopy of ancient woodland. Keep an eye out for the many art sculptures on the ground or take to the sky, embarking on a Tree Top Adventure with Go Ape (8 miles).

What a fabulous cottage in a spectacular location. We spent each day in the lake, swimming and paddle boarding. Easy walk into Coniston for a pub tea and the breakfast at the farm next door has to be tried. The cottage has everything you need and more - such a well stocked kitchen, plenty of bathrooms and lovely comfy furniture.

Tinkler Beck Cottage was perfect for our family holiday. The layout of the bedrooms worked well and we loved the sociable dining/kitchen area. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Tinkler Beck cottage. The cottage is located really close to the top end of the lake, near the village and has private access to the water, which is a massive bonus. It seemed the quieter side of the lake, which we loved. Richard, the owner was really friendly and helpful too, wed def stay there again. Hide
