This beautiful countryside home-from-home is perfect for a family or friends’ rural retreat. The property sleeps eight guests across four bedrooms, and for those bringing the whole pack it also welcomes four dogs, so your faithful friends can experience the many walks and trails of the Lake District. Set in an idyllic location, enjoy spectacular views of the countryside and Esthwaite Water, and tuck into hearty meals served just down the road at the local inn (0.5 miles). You don’t have to worry about queues for a hot bath or shower after a day spent outdoors, with three bathrooms between you, and for relaxing in the sun you only have to step outside to the 4-acre garden.

Charming interiors, filled with eclectic and colourful soft furnishings, create a comfortable space to settle into for your group holiday. Untie boots and shoes in the hall, where you can warm up hands and feet in an armchair by the wood burner-effect electric fire. Take it in turns to prepare meals in the cosy kitchen/diner and as you cook, share stories and discuss ideas for tomorrow, with nibbles and drinks set out on the table for everyone to snack on. After dinner, set the dishwasher off and retire to the lounge. Light the wood burner and curl up on one of the sofas. Choose a book from the shelf, share a large bowl of popcorn with a film on the TV/DVD, or simply bask in peace in front of the large floor-to-ceiling windows, which flood the room with light. Three of the bedrooms are along the corridor in the main house, but the fourth, a twin, can be found in the summer house. It provides additional flexible accommodation, as it comes with its own wet room. In the morning wake refreshed and spend time in the garden. Children will love exploring the lawn to the back of the property, where there is a swing and benches, and the front veranda is a lovely place for an al fresco breakfast. Access to the house is via a quiet track, and there is off-road parking for three cars.

We were stunned and so impressed at the view that we found on arriving at the house. The photos on the website Do not do it justice. We loved the house. Its very spacious and again, the view is stunning. I could have sat at the lounge window all week and not tire of it. lovely views from every window. Loved the kitchen/dining area. One of the showeRead morer rooms is quite small but not an issue. The shower in the sun room didn't get hot but we jut used the ones in the house. 4 minutes to Hawkeshead. Hide

Beautiful location and stunning views, although quite tricky to get up the drive, especially in a large vehicle! Cottage is a good size, easily accommodating 8 people. Note that if you stay in the annex you do need to go outside to get to the shower room/toilet. It is covered so not too bad in dry summer weather, but possibly a challenge in the midRead moredle of the night in winter! The outside veranda is lovely and enabled us to sit outside, even when it was raining. Hide

Broad Howe has the finest view in the Lake District - Esthwaite Water surrounded by fields in the foregound, mountains from Coniston Old Man to the Langdale Pikes distant. It is flexible, sleeping 6 in the house and two in the Summer House with access to its own shower/wc. We still love the character of this property and were pleased to see all the photo albums and visitor books were back. We never tire of the lovely view and enjoy the local walks on the door step. We have been returning every year for approximately 10 years and it feels like our own holiday home as we know it so well.

Broad Howe was an amazing place the stay, the property itself was quite quirky and perhaps need a bit of modernising but the location and especially the view far outweighs any negatives - we would certainly go back again given the opportunity.

What a lovely cottage. We loved it. Everything you need for a break away. Garden not totally enclosed, but our dogs were fine. Loved the peace and the views are spectacular. The weather wasn't great, but we kept cosy in the cottage. .Great to have a utility room where we could store dogs things and other items out of the way. We didnt use the gardeRead moren house, but would be ideal for older children to have their own space. WiFi good and we took chrome stick so we could get Netflix etc on the tv. Hide
