Enjoy Devon living at its best here in this beautiful barn conversion surrounded by rolling fields and views out to sea. The small collection of properties on-site gives a charming village feel, and thoughtful extras like a secure dog walking paddock are ideal for group bookings.

The house has bags of character despite a modern renovation and is peppered with artfully exposed stone walls. The farmhouse-style kitchen has a family-size fridge/freezer so you can happily stock up once and concentrate on really relaxing. Round everyone up for laid-back brunches at the chunky pine dining table while you hatch plans for the days ahead, and if the weather’s fine, open up the double doors and let the sea breeze drift in. The separate living room is a great hub for the group to gather at the end of an active day, with a cosy wood burner and TV when you’re all too relaxed to chat. French doors from the living room lead out to a sun-drenched decked area that runs the length of the house. Sit on the benches and enjoy distant sea views across the shared dog exercising paddock or walk down to the other end for a soak in the secluded hot tub. A BBQ is on hand when no-one wants to tear themselves away from the summer sun. The four double bedrooms are spread over two floors, with one from each level available as twin rooms on request, and a fresh modern look throughout. A shower room on the ground floor and bathroom upstairs will accommodate the morning routines, getting you out and about in no time.

With the gorgeous views, the shared dog exercising paddock and a surprise collection of inquisitive goats keen to be introduced, there’s plenty to keep you busy on-site. Meander on foot from the house through the local countryside, or head to Hartland, 2.5 miles away and browse the many craft shops and potteries before refuelling in one of the several friendly pubs. Treat the children to a day at the Milky Way Adventure Park, 2 miles from the house, or visit the quaint town of Clovelly, with its steep cobbled streets and picturesque harbour. A trip to Hartland Point, 5 miles away will blow away the cobwebs, and make sure that you look out for the rusty wreck of the Johanna, still visible on the rocks below as you walk along the blustery South West Coast Path.

We spent a glorious week in Devon in this beautiful barn conversion. Lesley and Carl are wonderful hosts, friendly and helpful but not intrusive. The accommodation is well thought out, comfortable and a good equipped kitchen. Stunning views from the garden, the jacuzzi was the cherry on the cake. Would not hesitate to recommend a stay here. We had such a lovely stay in January. The cottage was wonderful and warm and we really loved the hot tub after a walk each day. The space was absolutely great for our group, we would love to visit again.

This was our first stay here but it certainly wont be our last. The property is of an exceptional standard and the use of the paddock and mini golf was an added bonus. Had a fantastic week away. The cottage exceeded expectations and the whole family had a great time! Our young boys particularly enjoyed feeding the goats and playing on the mini golf course. Great views from the hot tub, the cottage was very clean and well equipped and the hosts were very friendly.

We had a fantastic time at the Retreat, the Owl Lodge we stayed in was amazing and the view from the hot tub was breathtaking. The owners were so helpful and our dog loved the paddock. This is an amazing place to use as a base to explore the local areas. Thank you for a lovely break

Lovely cottage, had everything we needed and plenty of room for 7 adults and 2 dogs. The enclosed play area was perfect for a game of catch or a run around with the dogs. The hot tub was located for the best possible view.

Second time staying here. We love it. From the hot tub to watching the goats to the views to the well equipped kitchen which is anyones dream kitchen and a pleasure to cook in. Underfloor heating and the multi headed shower are such a luxury. Lesley and Carl are so friendly and helpful. We found it not too long a distant to instow beach and westwarRead mored ho. My only thing I would change is allow dogs in the bedrooms. My dogs are my family and its a hard change for them being separated from us. Hide

Lesley & Carl were lovely hosts who were really easy going and non-intrusive throughout our stay. Lesley met us on arrival, kindly showed us around and explained the dos and donts alongside recommendations of local walks and pubs. The property is much better in person than photos, and is finished to a lovely standard. We just had Christmas week in owl barn, and this is the best equipped holiday cottage that we have ever stayed in. Absolutely everything had been well thought out, from plenty of pots and pans to cook Christmas lunch right through to a pressie from santa under the tree for our grandson. We had an amazing stay at Owl Barn. So clean and well equipped and even better than it looks in the photos! Perfect location, rural but not so rural that going anywhere takes a whole day! Our dogs loved it too. Lesley & Carl are lovely hosts. Friendly, helpful and always on hand if we needed anything but not intrusive. We cant wait to go back !

Wow! This property is stunning, the views are just amazing and Lesley and Carl were so warm and welcoming. We stayed in Owl Barn, it's very well equipped with everything we needed. We loved our stay at Owl Barn. We were two families comprising of 4 adults, a three year old, two babies and two dogs and the barn had everything we needed (& more!)
