Property description

Laverstock House is a magnificent country manor, available for exclusive hire throughout July and August for parties of 12 to 18.

The house is part of a 400-acre private estate, situated in the rolling hills of West Dorset countryside, six miles from Bridport. It is skirted by a long sweeping driveway and a spectacular four acre garden, full of well established trees and shrubs, giving a feel of privacy, space and utter tranquillity. An extensive network of footpaths are within easy reach, several on foot from the house, and it's an easy base from which to explore the breathtaking splendour of the Jurassic Coast, West Dorset, Devon and Somerset.

The standard of accommodation could match any country house hotel. Six large bedrooms with six bathrooms are arranged on the first and second floors, with an optional additional one-bedroom ground floor flat, known as Admirals Cottage. Reception areas include a large drawing room, a TV sitting room, a study/library and a wood panelled dining room. The large, farmhouse-style kitchen, with its 4-oven Aga, Smeg retro fridge and similarly styled dishwasher, is heaven for foodies, who can source renowned local ingredients in and around Bridport.

Every aspect of entertainment has been considered at Laverstock. Besides WiFi, Sky TV, DVDs and an iPod dock, there is a games room with a full sized snooker table and darts board, a private tennis court and landscaped gardens with a croquet lawn.

Accommodation

This is a truly beautiful country house, maintained to a very high standard. Much of the interior has been redecorated and refurnished in the last year, and a full time groundsman keeps a close eye on the gardens. The windows are original stone mullion and every bedroom has a view to die for over the grounds and countryside.

Study/Library: Large desk, fire place, Chesterfield sofa, two walls of books and films.

Drawing Room: Very large, formal room, with large windows overlooking the gardens. Four large sofas and armchairs. Big flat screen TV with Sky. Aga wood burner.

Dining Room: Wood panelled and formal, with a flagstone floor.

Kitchen: Large country house style. Good quality crockery, cutlery, pans, glasses etc and a breakfast table.

TV Room: Off the kitchen. Sofa and TV.

2 downstairs loos and cloakrooms.

Utility & laundry room with washing machine and tumble dryer.

The bedrooms are pale, light and elegant, with contemporary fittings but period touches. The master bedroom suite is worth a mention for its super king size bed, chaise longue, ensuite bathroom, dressing room and far reaching views.
