Property description
The Rosevine is a big, part-Georgian house by the sea, hidden away on the beautiful Cornish Roseland. With the wonderful sandy beach of Porthcurnick only a two minute stroll from the garden gate, the house already had potential as a house party venue for a large group of adults and children. Add in a few more ingredients – cool, contemporary style, an indoor pool, a cosy log burner, a big playroom with squishy sofas, partial or full catering for those who appreciate good food and wines, and various outdoor activities, and you have a winning combination for a corporate retreat, a family gathering or a coastal wedding.
There are lots of ways to create special memories from a stay at The Rosevine – a lunchtime beach barbecue, perhaps, big suppers that spill out into the garden, a game of cricket on the beach, or an afternoon sail or kayak on the Percuil river.
As a corporate retreat, working in such an environment is inspiring, with few outside distractions and plenty of opportunities to unwind afterwards. If you are planning a Cornish wedding, the house can host a reception for up to 50 guests in the house, while larger parties can be catered for in a marquee or tipi in the grounds. The house also has a civil ceremony licence for up to 50 guests.
Location
A peaceful location. Wander through the garden and down the lane, and it's a two minute walk to Porthcurnick beach. The house overlooks Gerrans Bay and Portscatho village which has a shop, pub and church amongst other facilities. The house is 4.5 hours' drive from London.
Airport: Newquay (40 mins)
Station: Truro (20 mins)
Accommodation
The house is divided into 12 self-contained apartments – 4 are studios with one double bedroom, and 8 have 2 bedrooms. Each also has a sitting and dining area, a mini kitchen and an ensuite bathroom (one apartment has two ensuites).
There are sea views, large French doors which open onto private decked terraces, and comfortable beds with Egyptian cotton bed linen. One of the bedrooms in each two-bedroomed apartment is for children, with either twin beds or New England Aspace bunks.
Downstairs in the main house is a large, uncluttered drawing room painted in pale greys, with stylish fabric-covered sofas, a chaise longue, a big log burner and a definite emphasis on warmth and comfort. The children’s play room has squishy sofas, various books, toys, games and films, a large screen TV and an X-box. Other communal areas include a large, wooden-floored dining room, an indoor pool (10x5 metres), a private dining/meeting room, a laundry room and two acres of grounds which include a large lawn for relaxing on, and a lower field with a wooden play area, trampoline and table tennis.
You can hire The Rosevine on a partial or fully catered basis. There is a small team of staff to look after you, who will prepare any meals you request, using rustic, locally-grown and seasonal ingredients. Meals are entirely tailor-made, whether you want brunch, simple tapas-style dishes, healthy choices for children or a three-course grown up supper. You can also pre-order from a deli list for food boxes and prepared dishes.
Each apartment has its own individual dining area, but when you wish to eat together, the main dining room can seat up to 30 guests and the adjoining private dining room can seat a further 12 around a large table. In summer you can also dine out in the garden.
Equipment for babies and toddlers is provided, and children's mealtimes can always be arranged.
The owners live just across from the main house and are always on hand should you need them.
Facilities
Each apartment has a dishwasher, fridge, microwave/combi oven, kettle, toaster, digital TV and DVD player.
A guest laundry has washing machines and dryers.
The indoor pool has a changing room and shower. Pool towels are provided.
One ground floor apartment has space for wheelchair access, ie a wider hallway, bathroom and bedroom. There are three loos on the ground floor, including one with disabled access.

WEDDINGS
Surround yourself with friends and family for a stylish Cornish coastal wedding. Two pretty churches including the waterside Church at St Just in Roseland are a short drive away.
Who says weddings and children don’t mix?
The house has an unfussy and relaxed feel to it, so children can roam happily. Children's food, an entertainer and babysitters can easily be arranged.
CONFERENCES
Corporate facilities include a room with a table seating up to 12 boardroom style or up to 30 theatre style; OHP and AV equipment available to hire; and apartment sitting rooms which provide perfect additional break-out space for smaller meetings.
Area
The Roseland is one of the prettiest parts of Cornwall and there’s lots to explore nearby.
Porthcurnick beach is large and sandy. The calm waters are perfect for swimming and you can go rock pooling at low tide. The sheltered coastal village of Portscatho is just along the coastal footpath, and the house is a stone's throw from some of the best sailing waters in the UK.
Some favourite things to do:
St Mawes and the Percuil river.
Hire a small launch from Roseland Paddle and Sail and motor over to St Mawes. Have lunch, wander around the town and visit St Mawes Castle, before motoring back up the Percuil.
Day out in Falmouth
You can drive the short distance to St Mawes and take the passenger ferry across to Falmouth. Visit The National Maritime Museum and Pendennis Castle.
Day on the Fal. If the weather is good, hire a motor boat and spend the day messing about on the Carrick roads. You can reach St Mawes, Falmouth, up all the small creeks towards Truro. Stop off at various places, including a great waterside pub.
Cycle the Camel Trail from Wadebridge to Padstow and treat yourselves to fish and chips or a Cornish pasty after all the exercise.
Learn to Sail. The owners can arrange for you or the children to have sailing lessons at one of the local sailing schools. The children can join one of the local sailing schools for some group lessons which run throughout the school holidays.
Local Gardens. These include Heligan and Trelissick. The Eden Project
is a must, and is ever-changing so there's no such thing as a wasted visit!
