What better venue for young families looking for a house party holiday in France? Les Chardonnerets is a traditional Vendéen farmhouse, on the edge of the village of Mouzeuil St Martin. It has been beautifully converted, together with a neighbouring barn, to provide a perfect Gallic base. In total, the two properties sleep 20, with ten comfortable and well decorated bedrooms, and six bathrooms.
This house is particularly suited to those with young children and babies. Besides a host of useful cots, high chairs, stair gates and toys etc, it also has a large play area, a trampoline and a fully-fenced heated outdoor pool (with an adjacent paddling pool area).
The downstairs space in the barn is a huge, open-plan kitchen area, with space for 20 to dine together. There is plenty of work surface and cupboard space, and a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer.
Les Chardonnerets is on the edge of a small village, and is surrounded by fields. There is roughly an acre of private grounds, with plenty of parking space. One of the terraces is particularly large, and has a summer kitchen, barbecue and space for everyone to eat outside. The village has a boulangerie and a local shop, while the nearby towns of Fontenay le Comte and Luçon have larger shops, markets, supermarkets and restaurants. It is 35 minutes' drive to the beach.

Situated on the edge of the village, on a quiet road surrounded by fields. Within walking distance of the bakery.

The farmhouse rooms comprise a family kitchen, dining room, two living rooms, a bathroom, separate WC, three double bedrooms (one king size, one four poster, one ensuite) one twin room, one triple bedroom and a family bathroom.
The barn has an open plan living/kitchen/dining area, two double ensuite rooms, two twins, one single with a cot and a family bathroom.

As well as bed linen (freshly pressed) and towels (including pool/beach towels),the price also includes a welcome pack, all utilities and cleaning before arrival and after departure. Equipment such as sterilisers, bottle warmers and baby listeners are available at no extra charge. The owners live about 4 kms away and are on hand (English-speaking) to provide any assistance you may need.
Babysitting and a meals service are available upon request.

Area
The South Vendée enjoys one of the sunniest climates in France. The sublime beaches of the Vendée are within easy reach (40 minutes), and are some of the best in Europe. Clean, with shallow, gently sloping sands, these are particularly suitable for families.
Local facilities in the village include a bakery, a bar/restaurant and a general store. The attractive Renaissance town of Fontenay-le-Comte is a short drive away, and this has a wide range of shops, supermarkets and restaurants, as well as hosting an excellent market every Saturday morning.
Local attractions include:
* Mervent Forest, with walking, cycling, amusement park, zoo and boating on the lake;
* Venise Vert an area of canals and waterways in a beautiful and protected countryside;
* Puy du Fou theme park, one of the best family attractions in France with shows and spectacles based on the history of the Vendée
* The beautiful port of La Rochelle - 35 minutes away with plentiful shops, restaurants and museums.
* The Il de Ré - about an hour's drive.
