Ten minutes' drive from sandy North Devon beaches, Beaconside is a large, Victorian country house estate. The main house sleeps up to 18 and there are four cottages also available, sleeping 6,6, 5 and 2. Built in the 1850's, the house has considerable character and charm, with unusual architecture, high cornice ceilings, large open fireplaces and original tiled floors.
The house and the cottages are a great self-catering option for large groups, with an abundance of leisure facilities, including indoor and outdoor pools, a giant hot tub, a grass tennis court, a croquet lawn and mature gardens.
Location
Situated in 25 acres of open countryside, yet only 2.5 miles from Bideford with its pubs, restaurants, shop, Pannier Market and historic quay. 3½ hours' drive from London.

Accommodation
The main house has eight big bedrooms, all with views. They comprise four en suite doubles (one with an extra single bed), one en suite twin, two triple single rooms, and a bunk bed room. There are two further family bathrooms.
The large sitting room has comfortable sofas, an open fireplace, a baby grand piano and glorious views overlooking a private lawned terrace and countryside beyond.
The dining room seats up to 18 people. It's a perfect space for celebratory meals, with a high ceiling and large open fireplace. A selection of talented local chefs are available if required.
The kitchen is fully equipped for catering for large numbers, and the range-style cooker makes preparing meals a joy.
The TV room is equipped with Sky digital TV and a full music system, and there are films, board games and WiFi throughout, so plenty to keep children occupied.
The gardens are mature, and you have a completely private terraced area wth a barbecue and seating for 18 at the main house, with uninterrupted views over rolling hills. Each cottage also has its own terrace/table/bbq etc.

The Beaconside Estate is just 5-10 minutes' drive from the glorious sandy beaches at Instow and Westward Ho!. When you feel like a more structured day out, there are various North Devon attractions, including a boat trip to Lundy Island on the Oldenburg from Bideford Quay; RHS Rosemoor Gardens; The Milky Way and Big Sheep Theme Parks; Dartington Crystal; and Royal North Devon Golf Club. Lots of local attraction leaflets are available at the house. You can also hire kayaks up the river, available to hire from www.atlantic-kayaks.co.uk
Prices
3 night breaks at the main house start at £1,490, which comes to £27.50 per person, per night.
