Woodlands Farmhouse combines the heritage and charm of an historic old dairy farm with the style and chic of 21st century living. It has seven bedrooms (one of which is on the ground floor) and sleeps 14 very comfortably.
The house was completely renovated and refurbished over two years, using fine craftsmen to restore features such as the inglenook fireplaces, old bread oven and original flagstones. Whilst preserving the old, time has been spent incorporating the best of modern comforts, including a hot tub seating eight, a cinema room, wet room showers and a bespoke designer kitchen.
A large group taking over the house have plenty of space in which to thoroughly chill out and relax. You could take the dog for a long walk around the farm's private land (100 acres in all), before unwinding in the massaging hot tub with a chilled glass of champagne, for example. There's a game room with pool table, a children's swing and slide play area, a Nintendo Wii and a library of films to watch on large screen TVs.
The grounds are big enough to hold a marquee if you are planning a special party. You can also arrange various exciting holiday extras at the time of booking. There's a visiting chef, for example, a personal trainer, various pampering treatments, fishing, flower arranging, cider tasting, bicycle hire and more.
There are seven, individually-styled bedrooms, all with ensuite bathrooms (two of the rooms have Jack-and Jill access to one bathroom). The rooms range from a rather stunning open plan bedroom with wet room to an elegant four-poster affair, and original elm floorboards run throughout. The lightly-styled downstairs bedroom with wet room provides ideal accommodation for the elderly and walking-impaired guests. All rooms have fluffy white towels and toiletries.
The designer kitchen with its Aga, granite work surfaces and adjacent dining area makes a great cooking/eating/entertainment space. There's also a contemporary outdoor table and chair set, and a barbecue outside on the courtyard patio.
Relaxation is the key here, whether in the hot tub (a particular treat on clear frosty mornings or under the stars), in the library, or in the lounge. All the rooms reflect the heritage and style of a historic house, even the cinema room which has a 50” TV, leather sofa and huge, comfy swivel chairs.
When it comes to eating, you can either cater for yourselves, arrange for certain restaurant-style meals to be delivered to your door, or book an in-house chef to cook throughout your stay. The choice is yours.
