Trelease Farmhouse

St Keverne, Helston, Cornwall, England

A grand farmhouse, old enough to have been mentioned in the Doomsday Book. Its beams are made from old shipwrecks off the coast, and the large inglenook fireplace with its blazing log fire has a millstone hearth. The garden is large and well-established, and acts as a fully-enclosed suntrap throughout the summer. Within the barn in the garden there is a pool table and dart board, shared with two smaller holiday cottages nearby. The beach is only a couple of miles away, making this a great Cornish holiday venue for groups of up to 12.

The house has five bedrooms altogether: one master double with a four poster bed and a set of bunks just off it; two twin rooms; and a rather unusual retreat bedroom made up of a double with two single beds. This latter room is reached through the kitchen and is spread over two levels, the single beds accessible via steep stairs. This is probably the perfect room for old children wanting their own space on holiday.

There’s a family bathroom, a downstairs shower room, and an ensuite shower room connected to the retreat bedroom.

The kitchen/diner has all the essential farmhouse ingredients, from the Aga to the large pine table where you can all eat together, and the cool larder area.

French doors lead off the wonderful old living room and into the garden, which has a sunken patio and barbecue.

The kitchen is well equipped, with a further electric cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer, dishwasher and washing machine.

Bed linen, heating and the first basket of logs are supplied.

Supermarket deliveries are available here.

The house has ample parking.

Sorry, no smoking allowed.

The beach, shop and pub are all two miles away.

Trelease Farm enjoys one of the country’s most beautifully rugged landscapes, the Lizard Peninsula. It’s home to some breathtaking scenery, clifftop walks passing old disused mine works and numerous hidden coves. The famous Helford River is just two miles away.

In this quiet farmhouse setting, relaxation is mandatory! Working alongside the Countryside and Forestry Commission, the owners strive to run the farm along organic lines and in 2000 they planted 6,000 new trees, installed wind turbines and created a three-mile woodland walk around the farm. Helston, with its vast choice of pubs, shops and restaurants, is just a short drive.

Penzance, the area capital, is a great place for sailing, helicopter trips, bowling and laser shooting as well as various places to eat and shop. Other sights include Land’s End and the maritime town of Falmouth, famous for its castle and naval history boutique shops and seafood restaurants.
